anyone have connections or know of good deals to get this added onto my truck? i didn't recall it being almost $400 and i'm not gonna fork that kind of money just to wake up my neighbors.

Check CraigsList for some used ones; also, if you're mostly just going for the noise more than the HP & fuel efficiency (somewhat negligible to most folks), look under your rig & see if you can go with a single muffler with split exhaust.

On my Chevy 3500 (350 smallblock, not diesel), I had the possible option of going true dual but unless you go with dual low restriction catalytic converters, you're not doing a lot of improvement @ all.

I used L&L Muffler on the N side of 290 on the way out to Drippin'; from where you live / work, it's about a 15 minute drive @ worst (I'd take Old Bee Cave to Thomas Springs, W on Circle Drive & then W on 290... bypass the Y).

Going this route (single muffler w/ twin pipes or a Y fork) will give you a dual look but not the dual expense.

Whistle tips produce more horsepower than flowmasters and give off a pleasant, harmonically balanced sound that your neighbors will surely appreciate. Seems cheaper, too.

Well, most labor charges @ a good shop will run you anywhere from $ 70.00 to $ 80.00 per hour with around a 6 hour chage if they need to do much custom bending.

Add to it the cost of the exhaust & there you go. I've got a CatBack as well (from the exhaust side of the catalytic converter back) & it's not a FlowMaster; I spent a bit less & I think I went with DynoMax.

One benefit of a single exhaust vs. true duals is there is a crossover inside the muffler & this eliminates some parts & labor costs (the crossover helps to balance out the exhaust compression).

Also, mine is a dual in & dual out; I have TWO cats on my truck with the muffler being the crossover.

What series flowmaster are you gonna get? There's a big difference in sound between the different models. I've always heard that flowmasters sound good but they don't give much increase in flow or performance since they have almost as much restriction as the stock muffler.

I'm a cheap trashy sumbitch so I got true duals with cherry bomb glasspacks on my pickup and I absolutely love it.
