I turned it off with Southern Miss down 6-1 and the bases loaded by Florida in the 4th. I just flipped back and (not to jinx anything, but) Southern Miss is two outs away from sweeping the Super Regional up 7-6 in the 9th.

5-4-3 DP to end it. Texas/TCU winners faces Southern Miss, making their first ever CWS appearance, in the first round of the CWS.

So the CWS opening round story line that was fabricated by the committee for television has been squashed by an upstart. (Recall that CSF, not Texas, had the #1 RPI.)

If seeds had held, Texas and Florida, each making their first CWS appearance since 2005 when the Longhorns beat the Gators for the championship) would have faced off yet again against each other in their first games back in Omaha.

"Best laid plans," eh?

The 'Horns still need to do their part to ensure Texas v. Florida doesn't turn into TCU v. Southern Miss.
