Five Star 2010 SG Daniel Bejarano To Texas

That is awesome. I knew we were in on the guy, and I heard he already wasn't keen on UA, so I didn't think the Olson stuff would have tipped him to us, but I didn't see this coming so quickly. Wowza.

Two five stars already in the fold and two spots (probably) still open for 2010 (assuming just one of the Hamilton-Bradley pair goes after one year and Mason, Pittman, Smith stay healthy and finish eligibility in the 09-10 season).

Great Get. Saw the kid play last year and he was all about hustle and his teammates. That North High team is loaded with D-1 players and Daniel may be the best one there.

I noticed that he is listed anywhere from 6'3 to 6'5".
I remember that he was always near the ball on defense and he was a slasher to the basket. I did not know if we were on this kid or not but he has long ,long arms that allow him to play bigger then he is. Only saw him play once so I will not comment on his skill set.

When I first heard the name , I thought of the drummer for the Motown group Gladys Knight and the Pips !!
Daniel may be a 3-4 year player for us.

This kid may have pulled us into the UCLA, NC,Duke recruiting level, have we ever had kids commit to us as sophs.? Plus be five stars! Great get to go along with Tristan .

Welcome to Texas, Daniel! What a great pick up. This class is shaping up very, very nicely.

I love that Ogden headed up the recruitment of him!

IMO, we can't be considered an 'elite' college b-ball program until we get to a couple more Final Fours and win our first National Title, but we're definitely getting there. It amazes me what Rick Barnes has done with this program. I owe him a steak dinner.

Un-believable. What a great pick up and what a great time to be a Horns basketball fan.

In the next couple of years, pressure will be on Barnes & Co. to take all of this amazing talent and bring home a NC. I'm sure it's something he's looking forward to. Again, wow.

shitfire! just unbelievable. Barnes & co. are on fire right now with the recruiting.

on a side note, Ogden's name has come up a few times with some of these big name guys. good to see him doing such impressive work early on in his coaching career.

The Link

The beat goes on in Austin. Rick Barnes and his staff have reeled in a fourth five-star player in the 2009 and 2010 classes with the commitment of Bejarano. Texas has two top-10 2009 prospects - Jordan Hamilton and Avery Bradley - set to sign early. And Bejarano joins Tristan Thompson, who is also a top-10 prospect in the 2010 class.

Bejarano is a strong 6-foot-5 shooting guard with athleticism and natural scoring ability. He has deep shooting range, shoots the ball well off the dribble and can attack the basket with explosiveness and body control. Bejarano also is a strong rebounder who is good at snatching the ball off the glass and then starting the fast break on his own.

The areas of his game where he has the most room for improvement are his lateral quickness defending the ball, and he could tighten up his ballhandling.

Bejarano is a hard-working player who has overcome some tough obstacles in his life to get where he is today. He has some talented wing players ahead of him committed to Texas, but one reason Bejarano chose Texas was the opportunity to play against elite players in practice. That mind-set bodes well for his future development at Texas. Whether it is sooner or later, I expect him to make an impact.
