Yes, I know, cue the banjo music.
We're going to a family reunion in Missouri, and plan to take our time on the drive. Me being me, I've gotta fish.
Any places to recommend would be appreciated.

We used to go to Beaver Dam Lake in NW Arky. Lots around it also, Eureka Springs and fairly close to Branson and the Pea Ridge Civil war battlefield.

The Little Red River and the White River. I have fished the Little Red and camped in Eisenhower State Park and it was pretty cool - lots of rainbow trout. The White River is supposed to be incredible and it's in NW Arkansas. Tons of trophy browns up to 40 lbs.

I've heard the White River is pretty cool as well. I'm going to have to call BS or Typo on 40 lb trout, but I almost scheduled a flyfishing trip there a few years ago. If you want to fly and fish the same day, you pretty much have to go west so we went to NM.

Nick - here you go.

"Nutrient-enriched water from the hatchery and the booster shot of cold water from Norfork Dam are two important factors in extending the White River's trout habitat another 60 miles downstream. And this small tailwater has produced some legendary big-fish stories. In August 1988, three brown trout over 30 pounds were caught from the Norfork Tailwater, including a 38-pound, 9-ounce fish that was recognized as a new world record by the National Fresh water Fishing Hall of Fame.

Now another White River system tailwater holds that record. In 1992, Howard "Rip" Collins caught a 40-pound, 4-ounce brown trout from the Little Red River below Greers Ferry Dam."

I've fished the Little Red and caught a ton of rainbows on the fly, but haven't fished the White yet (some of my buddies have). The White is supposed to be more of a tailwater, like you would expect in Colorado, Montana, etc. There are some houses on parts of the Little Red, but it's still nice country (despite all the Razorbacks there).

the website doesn't do this place justice, but they have nice cabins on the white river. mr flippin is a really nice guy. from there you have access to the white river and norfork river. my brother and i stayed here a few years ago and had a great time.

I've had a good time staying at a fishing resort on the White River called Gastons The Link . They are just below the Bull Shoals Resevoir, have nice cabins, a decent restaurant, and fishing guides. It's easier to cast if you're not wearing a plastic pig helmet.

The Kings River is one of the most underrated streams in the Ozarks. Great smallmouth bass fishery. Also, there is Crooked Creek, a famed smallmouth stream just east of Harrison, AR. Both are great fisheries.
