First Game Thread!

Going to Bot 4th. Texas up 5-1.

Chance is 4 IP, 3H, 1R, 2BB, 1 SO.

Had two men on with 1 out with a 3-2 walk (near SO though) and a passed ball, but got out of it in the 4th.

5 hits and 5 runs fo us (big 4 run 2nd) ..

We go 1-2-3 in the 4th.

On to top of 5th. 5-1 we lead.

On to bot of 5th. Texas up 5-1. Keys, Rupp and Shephed due up.

Hernandez started at SS. he has gone 2 of 2 so far too ..

On to bot of 6th. Still 5-1.

Ruffin gives up a leadoff double there, but comes through retiring the next three. Good clean start so far. 6 IP, 4 hits, 2 walks, 1 SO. 1 ER. 89 pitches through 6th. He may go another inning, I guess.

Tucker lead-off single. Loy hits into FC, Tucker out at 2nd. Loy steals a base (YEAH, old Texas baseball is back!!). 1 out in the 6th. Belt belts one to ceter field for a one-out double.

YES YES .. A Texas type run !!!

6-1 in bot 6th. 1 out.

Go Horns!! Ahhhhh, SPRING is in the air!! Wonder why there is no video at texassports.com like last year? Anyone hear about it?

On to 7th. 6-1 Texas leads. Chance is coming ut for the 7th. Only 89 pitches so far, so he can do a few more.

I hav to go, guys. Can somebodytake over the updates. My son has his HS soccer playoff game here in California. Sorry, gotta go. I assume we will win this one with no sweat.

First pitch out and then a three-strike K by Chance. He is cruising. Next ball an HBP though. Another swing K .. Yes.

6-1 as we go to the 7th inning stretch. "Twist and Shout" plays on the PA system.

Oh good. Turns out hat the visiting HS soccer team went to the wrong field - so my son's playoff game is delayed. I guess I can follow baeball instead!

ok I got the video...it was different from last year. Go to texassports.com and then click on "Multimedia" and click on "texassports.tv" & follow the instructions. I had to download something called "silverlight" from microsoft, I think. I couldn't seem to get there by clicking on the big links on the right of the screen. GO HORNS!

Yes they have Craig Way audio with the video. And it's free. Also, click on "Live TV" to find the link to the baseball game. For some reason it is not listed on the initial screen you get from "all-access.cbssports.com"
 
We go 1-2-3 in the bot 7th. Connor Rowe (soph CF) struck out. He is hitless today.

Stayton Thomas is infor the 8th, as Chance is done.

A leadoff walk, as Stayton throws 6 balls in a row .. Then Loy with a beautiful DP from third to Tucker to Belt !!! .. 2 out, bot 8th .. Then Stayton comes back with 4 strikes in a row and a K !!! Loy saved his *** and got him settled, there. Ataboy!

6-1 to bot 8th. I gota really go now. Bye yall ..

Ok, the live tv thing is awesome. The amount of work getting done in my office dropped to zero once I put it in full screen mode.

Gotta love the defense and effort from Ruffin today. Loy looks like the real deal, and it seemed that the Horns were able to get 1 big inning offensively, while not allowing UIC to get any big innings. Thomas and Dicharry did well finishing the game off.

Need to get the offense going even more, but this was a good effort for the first games, definitely take 6 runs and 10 hits any day.
 
Isn't UIC the same team that was on the losing end of some massive Big XII beatdowns? I think both OSU and Nebraska put series totals like 60-8 against UIC - or am I thinking about a different team?
 
Okay, I stand corrected. But give me some credit for recalling something in the misty depths of my memory.

It was not University of Illinois-Chicago. It was Chicago State. In 1999 OSU played a two game series against Chicago State and won 25-4 and 36-2! Nebraska played Chicago State one game and won 36-2. It must have been a long season for the CSU Cougars.

UIC actually played in the aggy regional last year and won a game. I believe they have been in the tournament the last two years and four times total.
