Finally watching Band of Brothers.

I borrowed the box set from some friends but it was BluRay and I did not have a player for that yet. Now I do and now I am watching. Now I am amazed, hooked and wondering why I waited so long. In other words, it's a perfect scenario to enjoy the living hell out of this.

I can already see the differences in this and The Pacific (which I enjoyed immensely) and why they are both special. This is going to be awesome. I just finished the first two parts and am about to start 3rd. Allsome.

My boyfriend and I rented the series from blockbuster a few years ago and got hooked! We have it on Blu Ray now. The D-day jump scene is incredible. Puts a heaviness in my heart and butterflies in my stomach every time I watch it. How scary that must have been.

We were excited to watch The Pacific, but never really got into it after watching a few episodes. It seemed like that series focused more on the characters as a plot line.

Enjoy!

So far so good four episodes in. The Pacific guys had it worse for sure but war is hell anywhere you are.

Bastogne episode is the most powerful IMO.

BoB and Lonesome Dove...two best mini-series in history. Two stories also perfectly appropriate for the mini=series format.

l00p - dude, you are going to love this - it only gets better with each episode. I too have the set and when it has shown up again and again on cable I still watch it... I never tire of it. I read the book (loaned it out to a friend a while back and he never returned it) before the series before it came out so it made it really come out for me what those guys really did.

Bof B was spot on with D-Day, Market Garden & the nightmare of Bastogne. I was a little disappointed with the Pacific alternative of BofB. I am pretty well read on the hisotry of WW2 and with no disprespect, the Pacific was just a little more horrific & bloody in many ways and that just did not come out in the Pacific series (yes, I know it was a narrow window in the campaign)..

Your rec's carry clout with me so I will dor sure check out Lonesome Dove. Thx

You may be the only person in America who hasn't seen it.

Loop, glad to hear you're finally seeing BoB.

You were getting close to having your mancard revoked.

Band of Brothers and Lonesome Dove are def. without equal. The Pacific was decent but I could never connect with any of t hose characters.

Had I not seen BoB, I might have been impressed with the Pacific. But it wasn't near the same for me. And that wasn't just because of my ex Army bias.

Grandpa, were you a hero in the war?

No, I served in the company of heroes.

Outstanding. The ending caught me off guard because I was simply feeding the dvd player disc after disc because like me it was hungry for more each time one finished. There was one left so I thought I had four episodes to go. I did not look at the numbers.

Well, I did not know the last disc was the ending one until they were playing baseball, war ended and they went down the line of who did what, when they died and more interviews. I was gripped with a tide of emotions and well, what a show.

To anybody who has not seen it and managed to wait longer than even I did, what is your major malfunction, numb nuts? Seriously, make this the very next thing you watch.

Thank you to every single man and woman who has served our country in both war and in peace.

Band of Brothers. Wow.

Don't kill me, but that photo of Randleman looks eerily like the actor who played the guy that got all pissy because a new guy was wearing a jump pin.

Then it turns out that he didn't even jump at Normandy.

Anyone else notice this?
