I would agree with your comment, "he started the ….storm". But
two points
A. By not fighting it and going what seems "overboard" about it, he gave the impression he was TOTALLY SENSITIVE about it. So as to avert a groundswell from the player base of, our coach doesn't care.
B. It seems to have worked for the most part. The locker room is relatively calm. And football is about to be played. What I am sure pains him (my opinion) is the issue of the fight song. As it does all of us BURNT ORANGE IN THE BLOOD fans.
I am so hoping, after the success and joy of winning our first game, that a feeling of total admiration and appreciation for the UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS, plus unity and brotherhood, overwhelm any and all feelings of doing a sit out of the playing of the school song.
