Final 10 Seconds

When Bama kicked off w 10 sec left I thought surely we don’t touch that ball. But we do and only have 5 left

Card completes a pass to Bijan at the Bama 46 with what I count as 8 seconds. Clock stops on 1st down and we call TO with 1 or 2 sec left - if we started with 10 secs.

Sets up a 63 yd FG attempt to make Auburn a living legend.
It was a great game but we missed too many opportunities to win. Many scenarios where we win but we didn’t. Proud of this team though.

In my final frustrated rant to my wife (Who is a Red Raider and couldn’t have cared less) I went ballistic when we actually returned the ball.. Yes, with 10 seconds you can throw one ball and have a big completion and a kick.. :brickwall:

I don’t fault the decision to attempt a return. A big return for a TD is about as likely as a combination long pass and record setting long FG. However, I would not select RoJo as the return guy. Love him but a speedster would be a better choice.

I would expect the ST coach to tell the returner - DO NOT return the ball. Fair catch or let it go.

All over the country, pretty much every game, I see guys return kicks late in the half that just waste time, or guys continually run them back short of the 25. Nobody ever seems to learn, and none of the coaches ever seem to notice. It's really weird.

I suspect that if the stats changed to where return distance was measured from the 25 - such that, say, returning one out to the 18 gave you -7 yards to your ledger - suddenly almost all the KR's would start behaving really differently.

You can probably get off two throws in 10 seconds if you don’t waste a time-out icing the kicker. See KC versus Buffalo last year in the playoffs for how to attack the field.

I am risking being banned or ostracized here….
I would like to see kickoffs go away.
Tired of the long wind up, block in the back, holding, that 80% of the time is fair caught or hits the end zone anyway.
Just start play at the 25 and let’s save the two commercial breaks.

I get your frustration. But, then you'd eliminate onside kick opportunities.

Also, they aren't getting rid of any commercials. The break after each timeout and quarter would be longer.
