Fickell Loses Luster

I was impressed with much of Luke Fickell’s coaching (albeit lower tier) until today. He handed Georgia the game in the last two minutes.

Trying to run out the clock with a two point lead the QB snaps the ball with a running clock with 11 seconds on the play clock. He then has two plays run out of bounds, i know they start the clock on ball placement, but at least 10 to 15 seconds wasted there, and then on 3rd and two throws a low percentage incomplete downfield pass wasting another 40 second runoff. Two seconds left, Ga. kicks the game winner from 50+ yards. I assume Kirby must have thanked him during the handshake.

I agree the playcalling and awareness down the stretch left a lot to be desired.

To me, it wasn’t worth the risk of giving Ga. the 40 extra seconds. A 3-5 yard high percentage pass, okay. After all, a first down wins the game.

Look, if the LT doesn't brain fart and get himself kicked out of the game, Cincy wins that game. It's that simple. That replacement just killed them. Had like 3 false starts and gave up the sack for the big fumble. I would have run it there, but don't think he's supposed to throw it unless it's wide open. Looked like it for a second and Georgia player made an incredible play. I'd take Fickell over TH any day.

Poor execution, but I suppose if you don’t have a better play to net you two yards to put the game away, you don’t deserve to win.

Notre dame should have went for two after their second TD to get within 16. Then before taking time out, ND was going to punt with three minutes left. Stoopid stoopid stoopid
