If you like feta, take your *** to Phoenicia on Burnet or S. Lamar and pick up a brick of the French sheep feta, if you haven't already tried it. If you get a large brick, be sure to ask them to put some liquid in the container so it will last a while in the fridge. If you don't like feta cheese, it's because you need to quit buying that salty Athenos-brand ****. That stuff is bottom of the barrel. I guarantee you that the sheep feta will change your mind about what feta is and can be. This stuff is smooth, creamy and yummy.

Cut some generous chunks of the cheese, mix with tomatoes, cucumbers, red onion, some oregano. Dress with balsamic or red wine vinegar and some oil, season with salt/pepper for a nice cucumber and tomato salad.

i've gotten some really good reccomendations on recipes and restarants on this board. this sounds like one of them.

i like feta a lot but admittedly, usually buy the cheap stuff at the grocery store. but i do notice the deiiference when i get a good greek salad at a greek place.

phoneicia is about 10 minutes from my house. i'm going to hit this up this weekend. good heads up.

make sure the cucumbers haven't been previously used--i made the mistake once (thank you, kinky roommate) and ended up with a feta cheese, tomato, cucumber, and pubic hair salad. i was picking those little hairs out of me teeth for hours!

Motion to ban juicyfruit from the Rusty's Grill board. I am gonna think of his post next time I make a T&C salad.

Woulda been more impressed if you had the hair problem with a pumpkin pie.

As for the feta, you are dead-on. We buy it at Phoenicia, and ALWAYS get a sheeps milk feta (that's what a true feta is). We go with the greek or the french. My kids call it "lamb cheese," and ask for a pile of it on the side of their plate any time it's featured in a dinner I serve.

Man. Gonna be at the coast this weekend. A good, cool feta salad sounds good for lunch or dinner one day.
