Normally I'd keep this in our Liverpool thread, but BACK-TO-BACK EPL HAT TRICKS!?! Are you freakin' kidding me?

In all seriousness, can anyone make a case for someone else as the best striker in the world right now? El Niño is just toying with people.

Here's the newest from the KOP. To the tune of Noah's Ark and animals going in 2 by 2...

His armband proved he was a red - Torres, Torres
You'll never walk alone it said - Torres, Torres
We bought the lad from sunny Spain
He gets the ball he scores again
Fernando Torres, Liverpool's number 9

Here's the hat trick against 'Boro (Particularly love the second one):

The Link

and here is a compilation of his first 17 (out of date):

The Link

For sheer enjoyment, I'd have to rate the game winner against Porto (due to the drama and significance). For technical beauty and skill, it would be hard to beat the goals against Derby and Marseille (mazey runs in the box - making defenders look silly)

Other things to love:

1. Despite being a lethal finisher, he works his *** off defending from the front. Great work rate.
2. He refuses to let his game be dragged down by thuggish tactics (John Terry - I'm talking about you!)
3. HE'S ONLY 23!

He is one of the few Spaniards who isn't an absolute choking dog. It makes me wonder how good the colchoneros would have been with him and the Kun instead of Forlan.

Liverpool is blessed to have him. They should make it an even 4 in the champions QF next week.

Sorry I needed a laugh after that crap Cup tie result today:

Here is an extract from Fernando Torres upcoming autobiography.

"Flying into John Lennon airport for the signing was one of the most exciting days of my career. The limo transferring me took a while longer to reach the ground than I expected but once there I was greeted by a sea of red. The chanting and atmosphere were brilliant and it all passed by in a blur. However I couldn't help but feel funny as i thought Everton wore blue.

Once inside the ground I was greeted by the manager, the first time we had met face to face. He was a lot heavier than I expected , and his hair was a lot darker but he spoke to me in good Spanish which made me feel most welcome. We went straight into a
conference room for the official signing.

After I had put pen to paper the manager turned to me and said "Welcome tothe biggest club in the World".

I said thank you and asked "When will I meet Tim and Mikel "? I said i looked forward to meeting mikel as i felt he would help me settle here.

There followed about ten minutes of confusion from which it transpired that there are two clubs in Liverpool and my
idiot agent had got them mixed up. I was furious and after several unhappy hours on my phone to him and my lawyer there was nothing i could do I had signed so had to get on with it. So i did.

Benitez was known as the "Gaffer". I asked Stevie G (the only other player at the club who could control the ball) why this was.

He explained that in the English dictionary "gaffe" is an embarrassing mistake. Apparently even the owners called Rafa "gaffer".

All I can do now is play really well and hope that Real, Barca, Everton or possibly Barnsley come and save me from my nightmare. Watching match of the day on Saturday nights i dream of what might have been at everton. Good football with Ball played to feet and not my bloody head as i get every week.

Some days after training I even drive across Stanley Park and sit
outside Goodison and dream of what might have been. I can sit there for hours.

Then Stevie ( who supported Everton as a child) will nudge me and say "Come on Nando, we have to go back". We might get spotted.

We drive silently back to the gaffer.

Wow, I didn't know Mancunians had the ability to read and write at that level.

Oh, but he was probably from London, seeing as how he was a ManU fan.

I really feel like this kid is going to turn into something.

Like I said in another thread, he was a joy to watch in the 2006 WC and I think that he is my favorite player on Liverpool. He might even be my favorite non-American in the EPL. (He's probably competing with C. Ronaldo, because whether you hate him of love him, CR is the kind of player that's always fun to watch.)

You just always want to know where he is on the field and you're always hoping that his teammates can get the ball to him.

The most impressive thing about Nando has been the progress he has made this year.

If you watch tapes of his first few PL games, and watch him now, I'm just amazed at the transformation. To the obvious strengths he possesses of speed and motion, he has now added a degree of toughness absolutely essential in the rough and tumble of the English game.

This kid has "it".

That spin spank goal yesterday was crackin' He has become an absolute load to handle.

With a few more pieces, Liverpool could finally end the 19 year drought.

We're a winger (David Silva, por favor) and an attacking fullback (Mr. Alves, Come on down!) away.

Great goal by El Niño.
