Felon : the Movie

This movie really grabbed me. As I told the wife two things I presonally have wondered about in the "whether I could cut it" manliness question was whether I could ahve been a navy seal, and if something terrible happened could I survive in prison. I figured the chances of Navy Seal long ago were probably upward of 85%. With my biggest question being the sleep depravation. 12 hours sleep in 5 days of solid work answered that nagging question a couple years ago.

Felon just had me on the edge of me seat the entire time, and made me wondr if I could really survive prison for an extended period of time. I don't ever sit and watch much of those "Lock Up" shows but have a few times when a new prisoner was the focus of the show. It's a pretty tough *** show, and I thought Val Kilmer was pretty good in it along with the star(sorry can't remember his name). The NECESSITY of joining a gang to survive was the part I always wondered about. Used to watch a lot of the HBO Jail series Oz years ago, which was tough to watch sometimes.

Sure makes me want to keep my ducks in a row and NEVER end up inside one of those places. There simply are no good choices once you are there it seems.

I watched the movie last week and thought it was pretty good. I'm fortunate to say I have no clue if this movie (or any other for that matter) really captures what prison is like - and I never want to find out.

BTW, Stephen Dorff was the main actor in it. (mini spoiler) And I didn't really buy it that he could handle his own in a prison fight against some of the other guys.
