Feds Only Reviewed One Bid to Develop ACA Software

Instead of relying on competitive bidding to select the Obamacare Website Developer, Obama Admin. used a fast-track process that resulted in only one bid being reviewed, of the unknown number of bids they received.

Michelle Obama’s Princeton classmate is an executive at the company that was awarded the contract. She joined CGI in May 2010 and the contract was let in Dec. 2011. This company had received only fair reviews for its' previous efforts on government projects.

A little Chicago-style cronyism by the Obama Administration perhaps? I think Obama needs a diversion to distract the public, like he always does when a scandal is breaking. What's the Tea Party up to?

Utterly incomprehensible, if true. I know that this kind of stuff has been going on for decades, maybe since time began, but it pisses me off every time I read about it.

On the other hand, the only person who is quoted on the topic in the article says that it isn't true, and I don't see any real support for the supposition that only one bidder was considered. And, of course, the Washington Examiner is a hardcore Republican lapdog website, just like Raw Story is for Democrats.

Since this story first surfaced over 2 weeks ago If the story is not true by now there would have been concrete refuting of it by either CGI or CMS.

That halfhearted denial in this link should not give anyone confidence, especially a ' libertarian'.

What is the fast track process? I thought there were multiple laws regarding government contracting to prevent this sort of thing from occurring.

There is a no bid process , when the job is so specific and detailed such as when Clinton gave Halliburton a no bid
This however does not appear to be the case since CGI has said there were 2 or 3 or 4 other bidders
although neither CGI or CMS has named any.
Hopefully more will finally come out on this but in the meantime CGI also has a 2 billion contract to help is Sadny relief.
No No No payback going on there

Husler your comment led me to do some research
This IS insane although probably not the rage du jour as the afternoon is young.

So WE the freakin taxpayers , in addition to the over 600 mill we paid for a POS fed ' exchange' have paid over a BILLION to the 15 states who set up their own web site
and from this CBS link
'A CBS News analysis shows that the 15 states that opted to set up their own exchanges are spending more than $1.1 billion to launch and implement their own websites, often paying the same government contractors to do the same job in different states."

TO Husker's point and from same CBS link
"At least five of the states have problems because they used the same contractor for their exchange as HHS did — CGI Federal. Clay Johnson, one of Barack Obama’s “Presidential Innovation Fellows,” wonders aloud in his CBS interview whether CGI Federal “got paid five times for some of the same code” — code that has now been demonstrated as substandard. Thanks to the states creating their own exchanges rather than going with a central exchange, that also means that the same code will have to get fixed in six different systems. Will CGI Federal get more taxpayer dollars to do that, too?"

Being friends with the preezy means you can f'up and still get paid hundreds of millions

Ok this latest revelation of yet another BO screw up IS in the running for RDJ

According to the article CGI is saying there was other bidders.
so far no one has been able to find out who thet were
But NOW to find out CGI not only ripped off the Federal exchange they also ripped of some state exchanges.
And WE the taxpayer are paying them hundreds of millions to get a faulty product.
