Time for Dan Beebe to move on down the road.

What the hell did I just watch today? I tuned in to watch basketball, but got some willy nilly tick tack fouls called, both ways, and grand maulings not called, both ways.

Can Beebe not get some decent officials for the conference? We clearly knocked the ball out of bounds a couple of times that they gave it to us. One time they showed Bill Self looking utterly bewildered at the call. I am sure Self won't say anything because if you do you get suspended a la Pat Knight.
Well, here I am, Feckless Dan, suspend me. I have called that ball-less wonder 3 times over the last few months, but he doesn't have the meat to call me back and discuss anything.
Someone needs to take a basketball and smash it into Beebe's face and see if he will wake up.
I doubt any BIG XII teams get very far in the NCAA Tourny. We might actually encounter some officiating. However will our conference respond after playing with zebras that are Y-ball level.
 
They cheat.... Plain and simple. Kansas wins for the same reason Arkansas wins at their house. HOME COOKING !!!!!! Mason gets bloodied and no call....several no calls like that.

The best thing was the steam mop info-mercial during the last part of the game.

well, I don't think that the bad officiating cost us the game. I will say that. We after often as not the beneficiary of non sensical calls. My problem is that the refs have no idea what they are doing.

When will they get charge/block calls right?
 
THEU, do you think that leagues set out to have poor officials? Do you think that they aren't trying to find better ones?

I've never seen a board whose fans thought its league's officials weren't particularly lousy.

Frankly, we played dumb to close the first half and picked it right up from there after the break. I think Balbay is the only player we have with a grasp of the game ... an understanding of how to play at both ends.

... and none of his team mates wear striped shirts.

I do believe that most conference want the best possible officials. Notice I said most. I think Beebe is probably too grossly incompetant to even know what good refs are. He is 'not a playoff guy.' So I doubt that he really cares about how the Big XII does in the NCAA tourny. He isn't a 'playoff guy."
Beebe has no spine and no brain and no heart. He is like all the characters of the Wizard of Oz rolled into one.
 
So Bob, you think Dan handled the football controvesary in the fall in a competant way? By going on national television, sticking up for the current Big XII rules, and defending the BSC, and saying 'I'm not a playoff guy."?
Do you call that leadership? I call it cowaradice.

Do you agree with Dan suspending Pat Knight for simply telling the truth about the officiating in the BIG XII in basketball? Do you think it is good that when someone associate with the BIG XII, as in a coach, criticises the officials, they just get silenced by losing money and being suspended?
Sounds like you and I might have some fundamental disagreements about free speech and courage.
 
When did this board morph into a Texas Tech board. That's the only reason those peckerheads EVER lose a game. Some of you need to "Get Your Guns Up". We got beat today because of the same reason we've gotten beat all year. We have NO consistent offensive threat outside of AJ Abrams and he is freaking easy to take out of the game. The only reason this game was not a blowout was that Damion James finally found his shooting touch for 20 minutes. Our offense blows. We have 2 players on the court for most of the game in Mason and Balbay that the other basically doesn't even have to guard. It's not the officials.

I did not accuse the officials of causing any outcome in the game today. I said their officiating was terrible. I cited probably more examples of Kansas getting the raw end of the calls than UT.

Also, you might call it a game. It is a game, but speaks to the idea and concept of justice. Even our games should be just. At least I think that.
 
Dan Beebe has no control over officiating. He neither hires nor fires the officials who work in the Big 12.

Moreover, Dan Beebe can't even fire the person who is the assignor of Big 12 officials. Only the Presidents (with the help of the AD's) of the Big 12 can do that.

The officials that do Big 12 games pretty much come from the same pool of officials that do other major conference games on other nights of the week. Its not like football where each conference has their pool of officials that only do their games.
 
A quick glance shows that Michael Eggers and David Hall worked the Cal-Arizona game last week. Hall was one of the officials in the Texas-Kansas game and Eggers was one of the officials in the Missouri-Texas A&M game. Are those guys Big 12 refs or Pac 10 refs? The reality is that most of these guys are just refs working at least 3 or 4 or 5 nights a week all over the country, the Big 12 doesn't have a pool of incompetents that only they hire.
 
Since I watch mainly Big XII games, I guess I didn't realise that the suckage of officiating goes far beyond the BIG XII.
Always good information to know.

My main problem in officiating is inconsistancies, and missing obviously calls. There are going to be literally hundreds of things in a game a ref just can't see. The game moves too fast, and a ref cant' be in position for eery angle/call. I do realise that.
