Like all accused of a crime, the senator should have an opportunity to defend himself. If it's true he was with underage prostitutes overseas though, legal or no, it's dispicable behavior unworthy of a U.S senator.

Maybe some in the media declared Zimmerman guilty, but my recollection was that the outcry was to have him tried for murder. I for one have predicted a "not guilty" verdict. I don't know where you draw the line on following and then feeling threatened by suspicious-looking black people, but as these shootings in Lewisville and Flower Mound indicate, it can be taken way too far.The Link

Maybe you're being sincere with your wait for the evidence stance, Crockett. However, if this Senator were a Republican, I think the media would be having a ball throwing accusations around. I brought up the Zimmerman story because I think it sheds light on how the media (and the public) picks and chooses whom to denigrate and whom to defend, based on potential for scoring political points. And we all can see that in cases like this, it's not as much about justice as it is about making a political foe look worse.

The GOP would only win the seat if Christie ran, and he has absolutely no reason to run for it. Assuming he is considering running for President in 2016, he is much better off essentially being a god in New Jersey than he is dirtying himself in Washington politics.

Christie will appoint a successor for a brief period, but there will be a special election to complete the unexpired term.
