FBI Question

This isn't the way to get answers. You need to tell everyone the story, using assumed names, in a long drawn out process.

Damn I miss stupid friends. This board desperately needs more stupid friends.

I know a couple of FBI agents depending on the question.

Oh yeah I forgot Johnny.

One of my employees is joining the FBI. He's leaving I-banking to do it (He has a trust fund so he will be ok money wise).

They issue them a sidearm but I wanted to get him another gun (A SW model 19 .357 w/2.5" barrel) for off duty carry as a farewell gift.

There is a list of approved sidearms for FBI agents and this was on one of the lists and I wanted to make sure it is still on the list.

If he's going to shoot a terrorist I'd like to think in some small way I was part of it.

Johnny - if you could ask your FBI friend that would be great.

Straw purchase of a firearm?

Lucky you're in Hong Kong. I don't think the BATFE has jurisdiction there, but with Homeland Security, one never knows.

BTW - The S&W is a fine weapon, but a tad bit large for concealed carry. This Ruger SP101 .357 is smaller & more rugged, although it's just 5 shots:

HHK: no disrespect; nice gift idea. But, does anyone in Law enforcement carry a revolver at all these days?

I thought it was all-auto all the time.

here's what the googlewebs show:
Issue - G22

Approved for purchase and duty-G17,19,21,22,23,26,27 SIG 228,226,229 in .40

Longarms include- M-4, 870, MP-5/10mm and a few other more specialized

SWAT/HRT-Springfield 1911 customized

Some of the SIGs are left from earlier buys and the MP-5/10mm looks like it is being replaced gradually with the M-4.

yes, they use autos all the time, that's why i want to get him the .357.

I have a python and I love it. It's just for fun, I never expect him to use it for business but would like it too be an option.

That it would be different from all the rest makes it a great gift idea. I get it.

Next time you are in Austin we have to go fire my 40's Astra complete with German Army serial number, symbol (no, not a swastika) and name of the soldier that carried it. It was left for me by my father. It only has the 9mm barrel but I hope to get the other that switches with it. Classic.

With a background in I banking, he will be more likely to get assaulted by a bank teller with a stapler as he investigates the disappearance of 20K in vault cash than popping a cap in a terrorist.

not to take this thread off center but why is the 1911 Springfield there, I have one but I would have hoped they had an improved rifles since the 1911. Granted theirs probably have better features than mine since mine cost five bcuks as Army surplus. (Dad bought it in the fifties).

The Browning M2 .50 cal machine gun was developed at the end of World War 1 and it's still in use over 90 years later. If it works, why replace it?
