Favorite Tombstone Epitaph

It was not on his tombstone, but Jim Bowie's mother, when she was told that he was dead, said, "I'lll wager he had not bullet holes in his back."

Do Oregon Trail epitaphs count? I remember a few good ones.

these are some that popped out to me-

Jeremiah Johnson (unknown)
"I told you I was sick."

John Jones (by Himself)
"Hold my drink, you're gonna' love this."

I will pop out a couple of my own off the top of my head-
"Friend to all, Lover to Many, left this world without a Penny"

or

"Friend to all, Lover to Many, left this world far, far too skinny"

More seriously for myself something like this-
"Treated all with Kindness, whose life touched many with a Smile and a Kind word."

Edited need that 'N' didn't it.

Or "Treated those from all walks of life with Respect, his life touched many always with a Smile and a Kind Word.

You can't beat this one from John Keats: 'Here lies one whose name was writ in water.'

You lose True Texan points in my book if you haven't wandered through a Texas cemetary and come across a tombstone in German. Here is one that may have errors to due my rusty German:
'Seine Leben war einen Augenblick.'

I would like to believe in English this might be written something like:
'Her/His life was but the blink of an eye.'

Not Tombstone but a good one:

"Bose Ikard served with me four years on the Goodnight-Loving Trail, never shirked a duty or disobeyed an order, rode with me in many stampedes, participated in three engagements with Comanches, splendid behavior."

John:

Free your body and soul
Unfold your powerful wings
Climb up the highest mountains
Kick your feet up in the air

You may now live forever
Or return to this earth
Unless you feel good where you are!

KIOWA. CHERFUL IN ALL WEATHERS,
NEVER SHERKED A TASK.
SPLENDID BEHAVIOUR.

I liked these two:

Rodney Dangerfield (himself) - 1921-2004
"There goes the neighborhood."

Richard Hind
"Here lies the body of Richard Hind,
Who was neither ingenious, sober, nor kind."
