It's getting close to the end of the year. I am woefully behind on movies this year. What were your favorites that I should catch?

The best movies I saw this year:
Ex Machina
The Martian
Creed
Brooklyn

Very good movies:
Inside Out
Jurrasic World

Movies I enjoyed:
Spectre
Force Awakens
The Man From U.N.C.L.E

Will see:
Carol
The Big Short
The Revenant
The Room
Joy

Documentary I saw that was very good is Unbranded.

It was made by some aggies through a kickstarter campaign who adopted 16 BLM mustangs and rode them from Mexico to Canada. Really beautifully filmed. It won't get nominated for best doc, but still very beautifully filmed.

The Martian
Mad Max: Fury Road
Sicario
Ex Machina
Star Wars VII (not even a big fan of this series)

I was highly disappointed with Interstellar.

I enjoyed The Force Awakens, and I saw The Big Short just the other night and it was entertaining. I didn't realize The Revenant was out already. I definitely want to see that.

Mad Max: Fury Road was highly entertaining, and I disliked the old ones. Jurassic World was just ok, mainly because I got to stare at Chris Pratt.

Spy was surprisingly funny. I never saw Straight Outta Compton, but I hear that was pretty good.

Interstellar was so long ago, I forgot it was 2015. Was it?
I liked it too

I'm not one to get out and see movies, but I've seen 3 in the last week and liked them all. Saw the Big Short tonight and loved the acting, especially Steve Carell and Christian Bale. I liked it better Joy and The Force Awakens, though those are fine movies as well.

Carrie Fisher should be admired for her mind and sense of humor. She is creative and hilarious. She's not as cute as she was 30 years ago. Neither am I. Big deal.

I was just telling one of my friends that Christian Bale plays awkward really, REALLY well. I totally know that type of person that's just in their own little world and oblivious to social norms and cues. He played his character convincingly. Steve Carell is an amazing actor, his comedies are my favorite, but he was able to pull off creepy in Fox Catcher, lovable loser in Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, and then in The Big Short he started out annoying but I grew to really love his character after understanding some of his struggles.
