FAU's 2007 Schedule

I keep hearing that Florida Atlantic is a dangerous team that we need to take very seriously. FAU finished with an 8-5 record, a conference championship, and a bowl victory, so there is some truth to this line of thought. I decided to take a look at FAU's '07 schedule to further investigate the matter, and what I found was a bit surprising:

FAU on the road: 4-3

FAU vs. .500+ teams: 2-5

FAU vs. ranked teams: 0-3

The above data seems to suggest that FAU's '07 record & accomplishments were somewhat exaggerated by a weak schedule and a weak conference.

They return 18 starters including a QB who threw for 3688 yards and 36 TD's as a sophomore. They will be pass heavy but not a very good defense at all. They should be better than last year but not significantly.

Nobody expects them to have a chance. Nice opening season game that will serve as a great scrimmage for the defense, especially the LB's and secondary.

I don't think many people expect them to win. I think people see a team that finished strong and is returning a lot, and they're going on the road to face a Texas team that was recovering an onside kick at the end of the game to hold off another team from FAU's conference.

FAU has a chance to go in and be competitive for 2 or 3 quarters and maybe beat the spread. That would make for one of the bigger days in the program's young history.
