Farther North on S. Padre Island?

Anyone familiar with the experience of being "farther north" on South Padre Island?

I am considering staying at Las Villas (6410 Padre Blvd) - by Andy Bowie Park, but have never stayed anywhere near that far north before. I enjoy the scene around Isola Bella /Sunchase IV and want to make sure the beach, etc. are comparable.

beaches are the same. just less people. that's where the new development is taking place. Franke is building some sweet beach houses down that way.

Thanks! Any idea if rentals (chairs, etc.) are generally available?

it's been my experience that only the hotels rent beach chairs.

About 100 yards north of the LaQuinta (by a beach access road) there is one of those "franchise" beach chair/umbrella rentals set up. It's just like the one that sets up in front of the LaQuinta. A guy sets up about twenty umbrellas in a row.

They charge $20/day for two chaise lounges & the umbrella.
