While many of these photos are of celebrities, a lot of these are candid pictures of regular folks. None of the subjects were drawing attention to themselves. Many of them were engaged in their passion.

Classic Cool

Celebrities:
Paul Newman, Harrison Ford, Neal DeGrasse Tyson, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip at the races, Cary Grant, Ali, Ernest Hemingway's passport photo - who has a passport photo like that?

Regular folks:
the ice skating gentleman, the women boxing, the teenagers at the soda shop, girl with typewriter, stylish couple in London Rain, the dancing bebop couple, Elseth Beard

never met your parents but mine were decidedly uncool; I guess they had too much on their hands raising kids on a milkman's salary.

But-----------many if not most of the people shown were not cool or classy. Start with Marlon Brando. He was a totally self absorbed ahole who wrecked as many films as he aided and unnecessarily, except for the ones he made just for the paychecks.

He treated women like something you wipe off your shoe and he got Stanley Kubrick and Sam Pekinpah fired. Because he didn't think they knew what they were doing.

Just using him as an example.

As for Ali, he was decidedly uncool and unclassy if you were one of his black opponents, in which case he was condescending or downright cruel before and while in the ring. If you were a white opponent it was a different matter----he described you as skilled if you were a stumbler, brave as a god in all cases, etc.

His poetry was about what you would expect from a semi literate. Good boxer, though.

Huisache, two posts for that? Do you hate baby seals too?

It's just the internet and Cactus Cafe fun. Loosen up a bit. Negativity is bad for your health.

lack of critical judgment is bad for your mental health and this country is diseased in that regard. Just trying to do my bit.
