AP fact check of Obama's pledge last night that his plan is paid for

" President Barack Obama's promise Thursday that everything in his jobs plan will be paid for rests on highly iffy propositions.

It will only be paid for if a committee he can't control does his bidding, if Congress puts that into law and if leaders in the future - the ones who will feel the fiscal pinch of his proposals - don't roll it back

I thought the AP was a left-wing machine doing the bidding of Obama? At least that's what the right-wing would have us believe - when it fits the narrative of course.

Obama's "paid for" moment was a low point in his speech, IMO. I hope the bill is passed and I hope the committee finds a way to pay for it, but it's not even close to being "paid for" at this point. I think he should have left out any real mention of the pay-fors other than to say he's sending it to the committee. He definitely should not have declared this "paid for". Obama wants so badly to erase the possible arguments against his plan but he doesn't realize that a weak argument is often worse than no argument at all.

Yes- the AP is left wing when they fact check the GOP but they then switch to moderate when they fact check Obama. Got it.

Whatever- even though his plan is mostly rehashed GOP plans it now suddenly becomes a liberal ideology that must be defeated at the expense of American jobs.

Agreed Johnny. Just expressing frustration that our country suffers because, as one can see here on West Mall- there are many who'd rather rebuke a President they despise rather than actually work for the people who voted for them.

I'm pissed off at the pointless partisan gridlock- and the continual spewing of propaganda trash here in the face of facts is just further evidence that some here support that gridlock. 6721 goes to drudge everyday and relinks an article that supports his hatred of all things Democratic. Very productive 6721.

Mcbrett
You need to be ' fact checked" READ the link. It is AP, a news source that You can go directly to and read every day.
I think people forget or maybe most like McBrett didn't read it on Huffpo but there are 12 Jobs bills that GOP House has passed.

How many did the Senate vote for?

6721- You're missing the point. I like AP a lot- they are a pure news org with little to no bias. However your compadres refer to the AP as a liberal biased blog when their same analysis does a fact check on the GOP candidates on the other thread. They also dispute the cold facts when it disagrees with their politics.

No Mcbrett
"6721 goes to drudge everyday and relinks an article "

I am pretty sure I got your point and it was simply a lie.

Most so called news organizations are left leaning. The AP is definately on the left side of the fence. Not to say that they don't have some moderate or right leaning reporters/writers.

The Conservative or right wing only has one channel or outlet of any significance and that is Fox. Why can't we have one channel, why do you have to hate so much?

I wish everyone a blessed day!!!

Ever consider that if one's personal views are to the far left/right then wherever the moderate position is- you will call it far left/right simply because it is from your perspective?

We have quite a few far right posters here accusing moderates of being Liberals simply because- compared to the far right posters they appear liberal.

HornHusker- that conviction is costing this country a lot of jobs and progress in the mean time. I believe compromise, where you get some or most of what you want yet not all is better than partisan gridlock.

I am tired of compromise. Hell the Democrats had control of White House, House and a Super Majority in the Senate, according to the President he won and he got what he wanted. He had two years and he did what he wanted without compromise.

No more compromise, girdlock is good, government can't grow unchecked. Government already has a built in mechanism that allows it to grow every year that needs to be removed. Only 16 more months of this crap, we can stick it out.

Right Major- so, a tea party person would say govt. can't grow unchecked. Last I remember- govt. started a war in Iraq without checking with us, and with protesters in the streets numbering in the millions. That added close to $2 trillion in debt that we'll have to pay.

The Democrats didn't get into gridlock although they had concerns- they supported it for what they thought was the good of the country.

Where were you protesting then? I missed your "can't wait till Bush is gone" posts.

Well- the economic crisis today is much more serious a threat than was Iraq 2003- and because of the gridlock nothing is being done to help resolve it, and our infrastructure issues are crimping business as Asia and Europe surpass us. You're welcome.
