Facebook question

For the life of me I cant figure this out. I know that when I'm on there on my desktop and go to my "Home" page there are updates from people I want to see updates about. If I dont want to see updates I use the Hide feature.

Why, when I use the iphone facebook ap do I see completely different updates, particularly from people I dont want to get hourly updates about? I've looked through all of the settings. I've already hid this one guy but for some reason I have to scroll through his daily hourly new stories links about Iran when on my phone. There are other people who I know are posting updates but they never show up .

And why for some friends does every status update get posted to my page but others it only picks up 1 in 10?

The iphone app and the iphone facebook mobile page shows all updates. If you use the normal facebook mobile page, those updates are left off.
