Fab 55 RIP??

Does anyone know why The Statesman has apparently
dumped the Fab 55? Also, we take the DMN and there
is no Top 100 this year. Do any Texas papers still cover
recruiting like they used to? Thanks.

Thank you, but I was referring (in the case of the DMN)
to THEIR rankings (not rivals). They would have three
lists (local, state, and national). And The Statesman had
their list of their top 55 players in the state. Thanks, though,
for these..... always interesting to see.

before the season started and I am wondering why
the paper just drops what had been a staple for years.
Maybe they are going to drop Bohls, too. One can only
hope.

Look for a recap closer to signing day, or even after signing day. If I remember, they have been doing that lately in the Statesman.

Now the DMN just uses rivals for recruiting info unless it is a kid in the metroplex then they sometimes get the scoup quickly.

This is the DFW area top 100 but again these are from Rivals.

The AAS had a big deal on the FAB 55 around christmas or new years like they always do.

Halliburtan was responsible for the Fab 55. Years ago I asked The Statesman why the list was out so much later than in previous years, and they said she was busy with other things and would do it eventually. My impression is that with all the rivals lists, and people being willing to pay for info on recruiting, DMN and the Statesman just lost interest in providing recruiting info like they did in the past.

Maybe they ought to rename the Austin Statesman to the Austin Disappointment.
