F Rock Roll Hall of Fame

the Chantels are clearly more deserving....ha ha ha... Political correctness will always trump talent and effort, you should know that by now.

For the record, I'd much rather hear the Chantels than Stevie Ray Vaughn. I just don't care for him.

At least KISS in on the list. They've been eligible for TEN YEARS, and this is the first time they've made it this far. Genesis too.

SRV was a talented player, but his songs sucked. He would be way down the list of possible entrants on any list I compiled. His records aren't that good. His output is eons behind other technically amazing players like Page, Beck, and Clapton, and he isn't in the same universe as far as creativity as Hendrix or Berry, etc.

That said, he'll get in one day, so stop whining.

SRV is dead. I doubt he cares. If he were alive, i would hope he would feel the same way that the Sex Pistols did when they were inducted.

TexasRX, Agree 100%.

And the men who hold high places
Must be the ones to start
To mould a new reality
Closer to the heart

What has LL ever done to deserve to be in the hof. He's had to have made more money making movies than he ever did on his music.

On a related note, the new KISS album comes out today (Tuesday). It's called Sonic Boom (yeah, I know, lame title), and it includes a disc of all new material, a disc of re-recorded KISS KLASSICS, and a DVD of a concert filmed last year.

I'll believe KISS will be inducted into RRHOF when I see it. The voters are all pretty much Rolling Stone writers that are controlled by Jann Wenner (sp?), the EIC of RS. That magazine has always hated KISS. It's rare to even see them mentioned, and there has never even been a feature article on them.

The fact that Rush is not in is a travesty as well...

I saw the link was the Rolling Stone... Rolling Stone may have known something about music at some point in it's history, but it has lately just become a political puppet of the left. It is in itself not worth the paper upon which it is printed. The RnR Hall of Fame is nothing more than a gimmick for Cleveland to make money. It isn't taken seriously at all. It is a joke and so nothing it does matters one way or another.

this thread prompted me to pull up some Stevie Ray Vaughn off the web as I sit at work processing emails etc... man... I just don't get it... how can you not like SRV? Listening to "Life By the Drop" right now... wow.

The Chantels and SRV are both cool.

"Maybe," sung and written by Arlene Smith of the Chantels, is a great R&R vocal from 1957.

It is a classic early girl group hit.

I played my 45 record until it was too scratchy to listen to back in the day.

I'm glad to have "Maybe" now as an MP3 on my iPod.

SRV was great to see in Austin when he was playing local joints.

I caught him locally multiple times.

We all have our personal favorites.

Some of us have just lived through and appreciated more years of music.

And that's cool; we all generally gain perspective with increased experience and age.
