Start with some wine. Get some apples and brandy and sugar, just fine. Old friends always show up on time. That's why you add sparkling Burgundy wine. In Texas on a Saturday night, Everclear is added to the wine sometimes.

Your recipe?

Go to Spanish restaurant and order a pitcher.

My wife is banned from drinking Sangria after two notorious outings one that resulted in a the permanent staining of the concrete on 53rd St.

we tried the jj walker recipe in highschool. it tasted like ****. i love me some good sangeria wine though

One Bottle of Riunite red wine. (On ice, It's nice.)
Double handful of mixed fruit, (melons, strawbs, peaches, cherries, etc.)
Three cups of something clear and sparkling, (7-Up, Tonic, Ginger Ale, etc.)
One Cup of Brandy, (flavored or no)
Ice

Mix.

How long do you let the fruit soak in the wine?

It's getting close to "glu wine" time here in Argentina, but in the Northern Hemisphere it is Sangria Wine Time.

PS- Also makes me think of Jaime's Margaritas. Yum. First tried them summer before freshman year. Good.

I have the exact same recipe as above. I soak the fruit in the wine alone for a couple of hours and then add the sparkling liquid (I get something lemon flavored). Add the brandy and ice. Women love it....and a lot of it.

The easiest recipe ever is 1/2 cheap red wine and 1/2 Fresca. Throw in whatever fruit you want, it's just for show.

We tried the JJ recipe as wel one summer in Austinl...I will second that it tasted like **** (of course, he doesn't give portions out).

It did, however, get us snot-slinging drunk for Aqua Fest.

Easy recipe that all the ladies love.

Large Bottle of cheap Burgundy (I go Ernest & Gallo)
1 L bottle club soda
1 cup of sugar
2 shots cointreau
Frozen chopped fruit (I normally chop up some apples, oranges, lemons/limes the night before. Put them in the freezer and just toss them in. Kind of like flavored ice)
Ice

Turn on the salsa and, after a glass or two, the people will start to dance. Even if they hate to.

I do the following:

* 1.5L cheap chardonnay, usually St. Geneve's (spelling?)
* 1.5L cheap red wine, usually St. Geneve's Cab or Merlot
* 1 cup of Brandy (Presidente)
* 1 cup of Triple Sect (cheap stuff)
* 2 oranges sliced and muddled with sugar
* 2 lemons sliced and muddled with sugar
* Maybe a couple of more pieces of in season fruit

Mix in a gallon container with a spigot and stir it in for a good 5 minutes. Then soak it over night. Before serving, I add some ice and re-stir.

Good stuff. I would never use an expensive ingredient like Cointreau or a good wine b/c the key to sangria is you are using cheap stuff. That's just in my book though.

Just made some last night. Used the same recipe. Been soaking in the fridge overnight in a $6 gallon container with a spigot that we just got at Target. Man, it is completely full. And a ton of fruit. Despite using 1.5L of chardonnay and 1.5L of merlot, it is still deep red. We are driving to Medina Lake for Memorial Day weekend today so it is going to be fun making sure we don't spill any. It has a spigot and a screw on top but might need to put that in a cooler or in a trashbag....

TTT. I used to have a recipe that used some vanilla syrup that was fantastic, but I can't find it. Anyone else have any other sangria recipes. Nothing added to this list in over 3 years.

I have skipped the burgundy before and prefer it with. I have also tried adding other liquors but haven't found my favorite way yet.

I get one bottle of that mix with the orange label, 1.75 ltr.

One big bottle of Merlot or Pinot Noir depending on mood.

Some rum sometimes, spiced to be zany.

Random fruit.

Sparkling soda on the side to be added if they want it or when they pour it so it does not go flat.

The rum goes a long way in getting it some kick and I prefer dark rum over light but I don't add it always. Depends on the occasion and who is gonna be there. Know your crowd.

A friend of mine puts a little bit of cinnamon and a clove in it. It turns out nice but I think that makes it seem like a winter drink.

The Container Store has these awesome beverage containers with a spigot on the side and it works wonderfully. Fits in a fridge if need be or on ice. And you have to eat the fruit in the end.

Here is a recipe I ended up using this weekend on short notice:

* Some oranges and lemons, sliced
*Juice from two oranges
*~1/4 cup superfine sugar
*~1/4 cup Triple Sec
* 1 bottle of red wine

Put orange and lemon slices and sugar in a pitcher and gently mash/muddle until sugar is dissolved. Then pour in triple sec, orange juice, and wine. Chill in refrigerator.

We ended up adding some more slices of fruit too. I think we threw in some peach slices and a few cherries. We had 7-up and club soda that you could use if wanted to top off the sangria as well.

Regardless, it was easy to make on short notice and it was good.

On a side note, this does not make that much. I think we ended up using about 3 bottles of wine for our batch.

For that much I would put in almost two cups, again, depending on the crowd. Splurge and get either Captain Morgan's or Malibu if you want a tropical coconut feel to it. The spiced, use a bit less than two cups as it has more bite.

Add as you taste for real fun! The rum is to give it a flavor, not really tons of punch. It is not to make it like Trash Can Punch like in HS parties.
