Expired Registration Ticket

i got an expired registration ticket in Arizona for a vehicle registered in Texas. Can you fight that if you renew your registration right away, or do you have to bite the bullet and pay the fine+new registration?

Thanks.

That is just flat-out BS!!! WTF do folks in AZ care that your vehicle has not been recently regeistered in TX, unless you have moved to AZ and the car is expected to remain in AZ!!! I would be half tempted to never pay the fine (and never return to AZ)!!

because you are breaking the law in Texas. What are they supposed to do, "call it in" or let it slide.

PLUS, they get to raise fine revenue.

you can get the ticket waived only if your registration has expired within a certain period of time of the ticket. i THINK it is 60 days, possibly 90. i got a ticket with a registration sticker that i think was 4 months expired (hey, i'd rather spend the 40 bucks on liquor), and even though i immediately renewed it, i had to pay the fine, though i think it was slightly reduced (From ~$130 to $90, if i recall correctly).

I know someone who was living here in SF, driving with expired Texas reg. He was stopped by CHP, and told to "grab everything he could carry." His car was towed, right there on the 101.

They don't mess around with that stuff in some states. If your Cal registration is more than 30 days late, they can also tow your car, on the spot.
