Exorcism flicks

The Exorcism of Emily Rose, imo...Laura Linney, Tom Wilkinson, and some super-intense being possessed acting from the actress playing the title character...it's less cheesy than the average demonic possession movie.

Of these I am a fan. I am excited to watch The Devil Inside. Nobody will go with me because it creeps them out so much.

If you haven't seen The Exorcist, you haven't seen the Mack Daddy of posession movies. It started the genre like Jaws started shark movies. It's still the best as far as I'm concerned.

When The Exorcist came out in 73 or 74, it caused some theatre goers to pass out or throw up. We weren't as inured to violence/horror as people are today.

I'll see the Devil Inside when it comes out on DVD.

The walls would cave in. The only speaking in tongues I do is in a place that cannot be mentioned here nor is there a forum to do so.

No Tongues At All.

At the time, the scariest movie I had ever seen. People were different then. People who claim that movies, video games, media, etc., has no affect on society at large, imo are full of crap. This would be a great study. I saw the exorcist 30 years later and I was laughing in spots that before were terrifying. It is interesting.

The Exorcist seriously scared me, but I was very young and living in a religious family so I thought the demonic possession stuff was real. It kept me up for a couple nights I remember. I don’t know if any other ‘horror’ film has ever had such an impact.

TRRW#31 — I read the other day that the early buzz on Devil Inside was pretty strong, maybe due to good marketing, but that the reviews since then have been mostly negative. Did you see it?
