exhibition games?

Okay, so are the Horns not playing any exhibition games this season? None listed on the schedule. The UTSA game is the first game of the season. While that should be a fairly easy tuneup opener, it's still strange not to see an exhibition game or two listed.

Without any apparent exhibition games, I'm looking forward to seeing the team play against UTSA to gauge how they are playing and how they may stack up against UConn. If UConn will have a weakness early, it will be a lack of experienced PG play. Realistically, that is the same for Texas. The matchups with UConn's wings will tough but the hardest will be whoever is matched up with Maya Moore. Now her, I'm looking forward to seeing in person. Especially where I will be seated. I know the Horns will run several players at her but I would like to see Brit one on one with her. I believe she's the one Horn with the height, speed and quickness to stay with her defensively. Wonder if Texas will go to zone against UConn?

If they are smart, they will mix it up a bit, throw everything but the kitchen sink at them....from where I will sit, I plan on blowing spit wads at Geno. Do not like that man....

So excited for season to start!!

We will be able to scout two future opponents as well when Tech and Tenn play. If Cain is back from her knee problems last season, she and Baugh will present a sizable problem inskde for the Horns. I think Ashley and Cokie can match up with them but will give up size and experience. It will be interesting to see how well Ashley has developed her offenive game over the summer. Tenn has tremendous size inside along with a lot of post players with pretty much every post at least 6-3. And they are pretty big in backcourt except for Bass at 5-2.

Is this the same UTSA that took Baylor into overtime in last years NCAA tournament ? If I remember that had a couple of guards that gave them fits

Same UTSA, different players. Of the five starters who played over 30 minutes each against Baylor, only one returns: Jr. Guard Amber Gregg. She scored 23 pts against Baylor. Her two backcourt teammates: Jordan Stark hit for 16 pts. She has transferred to Central Oklahoma, closer to home (she's from Oklahoma). Monica Gibbs also had 16 pts against Baylor. The two other starters, post players Ryba Pawlaczyk & Onika Anderson combined for 23 pts and 22 rebs. Along with Gibbs, those two were seniors last season.

I still think the Horns should roll over the Roadrunners.
