Executive Orders

DJT has declared he has a stack of Executive Orders ready to go on day 1.

Executive Orders are terrible for our country.

I know many of us will applaud the outcomes of some of the executive orders, but in the long run we are becoming a nation with an imperial presidency and it is doing long-term damage to our republic.

Will you all criticize the use of executive orders by DJT with the same ferocity that you decried JB's use of them ?

Pardons are cut from the same crappy cloth. No president should be able to override a judicial outcome. There are already appeals processes in place for judicial outcomes. We don't need either side using an imperial presidency to undermine judicial processes.

I have said I am for EOs as long as legislation is passed that makes the majority of them irreversible, for the most part, laws.

EOs are just part of what happens now.

Since from what I have read PDJT' EOs are to. Undo Bidone's that have damaged our country
Isn't it the only way to undo them?
To the extent that they are closing out JB ExOrd's then good. but that is not the whole of it from what I'm seeing. I see DJT's agenda being ExOrd's driven.

I'm ok with ExOrd's that have short pre-determined sunsets built in. If the ExOrd is a temporary order on the way to real legislation then great, but in my opinion they should have a pre-determined life span of no more than 6 months. If you can't get real legislation in place by then, you should not be doing it by fiat.

You are right. They have unfortunately become much more common. And that is a problem.

They make things happen quickly. With a majority, there is hope they become actual laws that can't be signed away by the next opposition party president.
