This is what disappointes me about college football fans.
I certainly can be reading more into this, but the reality of grown men ( and women) questioning the ability of a 21 year old amateur athlete , to the extent they feel unappreciated is absurd.
I care not about NIL, this sh$t has been going on since I was a child and I’m 62.
I met Quinns parents when he was a SO at Southlake and UT was his dream.

To be specific- adults who are often mediocre at best in their careers feel the need to judge a young man who is doing their best- regardless of the outcome.
Ive seen this on VY, Colt, Case, Sam, Gilbert, Simms and now Quinn.
Of course no one admits to hating on VY or Colt now.
Enough.
I assure you Arch is next.

Once they negotiate and take payment, they are no longer amateurs. They are basically semi-pro and get critiqued as such.

Good points! Criticize the play, coach, whole ream but lay off the individual player. Old saying about Texas football is "the most popular player is the second-string quarterback". There are some pretty darn good young men beat up by old geezers who don't know **** about the position. Let Arch screw up a big game and he will catch it as well.

To all of the Quinn family, QE is a talented and fine young man, and we are lucky that he loves the Horns as much as we do.

Rarely have I ever been ashamed of being a Longhorn, but that horrible day in McLennan County when our "fans" turned on Tony Edwards, yelling profanities (that old stadium had seats almost on the bench) and racial slurs. None of us knew the real story of his "capture & arrest", which didn't come out until months later.

That destroyed the team, the season, and the young man's future career, all while he had done nothing wrong but wait on his friends when that pathetic excuse for a human being handcuffed a kid three times his size and beat him with a baton.

WE DON'T KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON!

That said, no, I shall not apologize to Simms.

I’ve always been a Quinn fan but that has not stopped me from the standard criticisms. I will say that upon watching the Ark game my opinion of his first half performance was much more favorable. Granted he missed the long throw, and we do not always know if he was throwing to a spot and receiver missed it or what exactly but the pass was incomplete. What I can say is watching it when you know the result of game gives a different perspective on performance and he actually did well. In fact the rush escape in 2nd half with a perfect (dropped) pass under duress was remarkable. I think it was Bolden on the drop, hit him right in the hands.
Regardless he has been great for the university and I hope we avoid any conflict next year. Had the OL performed to the standard we had anticipated for this year Ewers would be a highly ranked Heisman contender.

Absolutely, but I think he already knows what those options are. Take a 4th-round grade and declare, or take a 4th-round grade and portal.
He’s got a minimum of 3 more games and possibly as many as 6 to show out. Here’s to hoping he does just that and proves the haters wrong.🤘

Can't agree with this. Had he not suffered the weird oblique injury he would be. He's been much less mobile since then, and that has both made the line look bad and caused all of us heartburn on this board.

Whatever his choice, I wish Quinn all the success in the world, but personally I hope he doesn't portal. He has always wanted to be the QB at Texas, and he has provided us with some great memories.

I know I was there, but old memory us fading. I don't remember him "walking" Senior Day his last year???

Was not that the beginning of the demise of Akers as well?

The "beginning of the demise" was DKR's first cup of coffee after Frank Erwin & Governor Shivers announced Fred's hiring.

That incident certainly poured gasoline on the fire. Best example of "guilty until proven innocent" I've ever seen. I had hoped Tony would sue APD and collect $50 million. There was no Longhorn Foundation, but if it had existed, I would have wanted them to sue as well.

I can't remember what that midget's name was, but by the time he admitted he "hated blacks and especially black football players", the damage was done. I hope his next job was as a security guard at some hotel in Piedras Negras.
