Ever Felt Like You Could Write an SNL Skit?

I have. Remember the Democratic National Convention? Where Obama says thank you about 3,000 times. It was to the point of insanity. "thank you" "thank you" "thank you" than you"...

Well, my skit would pick up with him leaving the DNC. At the end of his speech he starts in with the thank you's again "thank you' "thank you". As he walks off th stage he thanks anybody in sight ... "thank you" "thank you" Behind the stage more thanks..."thank you" "thank you". Thank you to the workers, thank you to the door boy, thank you to the limo dirver. Thanking people as he drives off.... "thank you", "thank you"

Get's home some family members are waiting...."thank you" "thank you". Kissing the kids good night..."thank you" "thank you". [ then the coup de gras] a big thank you as he shuts off the lights and sees what wifey has waiting for him. Maybe even continuing on through supposed activitied...."thank you" "thank you" "THAAAANNNNKKKKKK YOOOOOUUUUUUUUU"

I have little doubt that most posters on this Board could write better material than what Kenan Thompson has been foisting on us since Tina Fey left SNL.

Coincidentally, I just received the following link from a friend this morning. Is it from SNL? Wherever it's from, it's pretty good--
The Link

yes.

i've also wanted to write a simpsons episode where otto forms a ****** band and plays a gig at moe's.

that would practically write itself!!

Yes I could easily write a skit for SNL- just was I could have written a better war plan for Iraq on the back of a cocktail napkin.

The secret to good humor is that there must be an underlying truth to the humor.

I think that Stanhin's link is a example of the sort of stuff that SNL has been churning out for years (except that it would have continued incessantly for three times the length on SNL).

To the OP-yes, I know that I could write better comedy than SNL puts out. There is some pretty funny stuff on network tv now, but it is not on SNL.

I can't remember the last year that SNL was consistently funny. I didn't watch any of the episodes of this most recent year when they were live, but I've been recording the reruns now for a few weeks, and I might laugh once per episode outside of Weekend Update. (I've noticed that it almost always involves a Kristen Wiig sketch.)

So I think a group of 3rd graders could write a sketch for SNL.

I've slowly let go of my SNL habit because of:

1. Too much Kirstin Wiig.
2. Too much of the guy who plays the senator

McGruber was the last skit I thought was greatness.

I had an idea for one of those video shorts with Adam Sandlin (sp?). It wuold just be him doing daily stuff - making breakfast, catching the subway, doing his laundry, etc. He would describe his every action while using the Nickleback lead singers voice...."NOW I OPEN THE FRIDGE....MILK, EGGS AND BACON I DIG...."
