Euro-Trip (Limited budget)

OK guys, my roomamte is from London so we are going to plan a trip in early November to go travel around Europe.

My initial idea is to fly into London for a few days, head over to Amsterdam for a few, Germany for a day or two, stop in Belgium for a authentic Belgian Waffle, and then hit up Paris. All these places are relatively close to each other.

Was also thinking about either Rome or Athens but they are kind of far. (relatively)

What I would like are any suggestions about how to go about booking, places to stay, don't miss places, and any other insights you might have.

Thanks!

are you adverse to hostels? If not, just bring a couple credit cards, a euro-capable cell phone, and grab a lonely planet guide. Your itinerary sounds fine, no need to over schedule things.

And if you are so inclined, you can also get semi-legally baked on Copenhagen.

I would read the Frugal Traveler series on the NY Times website. He has traveled across Europe this summer and has tons of tips for cheap eats and lodging (non-hostel). Plus, there are great comments from other readers. I think his budget is ~$75 a day.

be very cautious in Rome... it is super expensive there... work hard to find a cheap place to stay... For big bang for the buck, go to Poland or Hungary.

just got back from Europe. Be very wary of bedbugs at hostels and campsites. Don't put your backpack or luggage on the bed. Get a sleeping bag liner that's treated with permethrin. And use it.
if you end up at a place with them, ask for another room. if you forget to check and wake up the next morning eaten alive by bedbugs, you will need to wash everything you own including sleeping bag in the hottest water possible and then dry at highest setting possible.

Hans Brinker "Hotel" in Amsterdam was the culprit for me, but another girl on my trip had a worse experience from Camping Roma outside of Rome.

Ok, all that said - have fun!
