Euro 2008 Final: Call your shot.

This should be a fantastic match. The announcers had a point that Spain must focus like never before. This is uncharted territory for them as talented as they are. They are finally exorcising the demons and living up to their potential. But can they take it to the end? Will they spend so much emotion on making it past the quarters, past the semi's and in the final? How will they come out?

Germany is getting better and better like the machine they are. They are sort of like that guy in the X-Men who once he gets his inertia, is hard to stop. They overcame their bugaboo loss and carried on even though they did not win their group. Spain was the only Group winner in the semi's, wow.

It has once again been wonderful reading all of your comments and insights. This has been a treat and lucky us for this is said to be the "offseason". While others were in the doldrums, we were riveted by titilating late goal comebacks.

The downer, the weather. Damn Switzerland, there is nothing neutral about your weather for this Euro Cup. It just flat out sucked.

So call your shot. Team, goals/score and time it happens in.

I say Spain wins 2-1 in extra time, no pk's. Wait, 3-2, no, I said 2-1 first so I stick with that.

I'm hoping and rooting for Spain. I see a 3-2 in regulation.

If David Villa is healthy to play, I see a score from him, Fabregas off the bench again and hopefully one from Torres.

It's funny, I don't have a team in the EPL, La Liga, etc that I follow but when it comes to big tournaments, I can't stop watching. Damn, I can't wait till Sunday.

Go Spain. 2-1, Cesc with the GW late in regulation.

*ESPN continues to make it a point to say Schweinsteiger (spelling?) as many times as possible during their highlights.

I just can't bring myself to root for Spain. They play clean, attractive football, but I can't support them for whatever reason.

Maybe it's because their manager is a crotchety, old racist. Or maybe I have a hard time pulling for a bunch of players that look and talk like girls. I dunno...

I'll be pulling for Deutschland, but it's looking like this is finally the year for the Spaniards. 1-0.

I think germany start hot and own the run of play
2-0 halftime, goal by ballack then an assist for him
2nd half, spain and torres get it to 2-1, Klose says "no dice" in deutsch to make it 3-1 minutes later and finally villa gets a late one to give spain hope but it just doesn't happen.

3-2 germany, Ballack man of the match, go chelsea

I want

3-1 Spain, Torres finally breaks out of his funk

With Torres and Fabregas (assuming David Villa is out) scoring in the first half, Schweitngflsdtkhslager on corner/long cross to start the second, and Torres adding a late one on a counter.

I think

2-0 Germany

Klose/Ballack on early corner, Germans pack it in and get a late goal on a quick counter

2-1 spain

podolski scores in the first half hour
villa pulls even before halftime
Torres gets the GW around the hour mark

Spain, 2-0. Casillas has been unbelievable, and the backline has been improving steadily. Plus, they've only given up one meaningful goal all tourney.

Spain, maybe 1-0 in extra time; hopefully no penalty kicks

I expect this game to look very similar to Spain vs Italy

damn shitload of spain fans here... i'm all for germany. not a big ballack fan but i think Klose is the ****. it'll be a good match. here's hoping to germany winning.

i've got a lot of dutch in me, plus i'm a liverpool fan which has a few representatives on the spanish side. so, F the deutsch bags

I've got mostly German ancestry (like a large number of Texans), but I really don't like Ballack. Most of the names crack me up and Metzelder (sans beard) looks like about 20 Fijis of various ages that I knew/met/saw at parties while I was in college. (Even Tommy Haas playing Any Murray looks as "All American" as anyone I've ever seen.)
Spain has never won anything. yet they produce really talented soccer playing midgets. I'd like to see those midgets slay the giants and come out on top for once.

PS- I don't care how "racist" the coach is perceived to be from past comments, he starts a black guy in the middle of the field. It's basically his general. You may say "Wow, he starts 1 'Moor'", but I would say "No! He starts 1 MOOP
'!"

Ballack didn't practice Friday or Saturday, that's why they think he'll probably miss Sunday, but he'll be a game-time decision. i could see him being on the bench.

I can't imagine a calf injury ever being that serious, but I guess it means that he won't be able to run 6-8 miles during the game. But bringing him on in the 75th minute could see him on ly running 1 1/2 miles against tired compeition. (Unless it goes to overtime.)

I don't know anything about soccer, but I'll pick Germany since all you experts seems to be picking Spain. Where's the US in this thing? Did we do good?

Boring match only b/c the Spanish dominated. The Germans could not put anything together b/c of the Spanish domination.

The announcers were all over Ballack for playing sloppy and late.
