A couple of weeks ago, my computer startied acting funny. When I was in explorer, my window would deselect itself every 5-10 minutes, sometimes right in the middle of typing, sometimes not. I checked for viruses, spyware, etc. All came back clean. I went to the microsoft site and did a check for any updates and it had one, which I downloaded and installed. After my system rebooted, it couldn't access the internet and I got a message about my "NIC, blah blah, Realtek ethernet, blah blah" being bad. I did all the diagnostics a moron like me can do, and to the best of what I can tell, the ethernet card went out.
How likely is it that the card went out at the exact same time I did an update? If it isn't the card, what is it and how do I fix it? If it is the card, how tough is it to replace? I have put additional RAM into a computer, so I'm not too scared to bust it open, but is there anything special I should be aware of? Once I get this fixed, how do I start using another browser/which browser should I use, since I've heard that explorer sucks so much anyway? Thanks!!
