At the end of 2011, U-verse was available to more than 30 million living units in 22 states. There are about 115M household in USA. Thus, Uverse alone provides access to LHN for more than 25 percent of population. I not am sure of AT*T's overlap with Verizon FIOS which In July 2010, estimates say was availability to 15 million homes.

Including Grande and the others the total availbilty is close to 1in3 or 33 percent of the country I would estimate.

Numbers above from company public data via wikipedia.

not necessarily correct, I have Uverse for internet but they do not have Uverse for TV available for here I assume thats the same many places

I'm in a fairly new subdivision and apparently isn't close enough to their existing network to tie in. I was ready to commit but only DirectTV option so I stayed with TWC.

Thanks for the responses. I am still researching my original analysis based upon you responses. The numbers I used are correct for Uverse on and aggragate basis, but I am not sure how many of these homes passed are capable of providing multi channel video via AT&T Uverse e.g. not internet only and not AT&T Direct TV. Not sure if I will get an answer. Will keep looking around as I am interested to know what percentage of the country can get the LHN via cable TV (not internet streaming).
BTW, I get the LHN. Fantastic content. Hope everyone can get it soon.

It all goes back to the last mile of cable. Or are you in a Bell Telephone(AT&T) territory or a GTE(Verizon) territory. They both can only provide the Fios or Uverse service when they have the last mile or right of ways in the community.

When you see AT&T DirecTV that is their offering not in their servicing area. You will find very very few places that allow you Uverse and Fios, if any.

It is too expensive to run competing cable infrastructures to the same residents that then would have a choice. You do find in areas or neighborhoods dual networks but they are usually newer developments that are very expensive.
