Estancia churrascaria

We took our "administrative professional" there for lunch.
Warning,do not fill up on salad/veggies.
Meal was very good. Servers hovering around continuously.
The beef, pork, lamb, chicken, and sausage.
All very good IMHO.

Lunch is 17.90 pp and dinner is 28.90 pp, al ittle expensive to take the kids (I think) but fantastic when the company pay for it ;-)

Oh my god, I think I am actually in a mind-altered state as a result of eating too much meat. My gf and I both felt high on the drive home.

So, here's the review. Keep in mind the fact that I haven't been to Fogo de Chao which I understand to be the ultimate, and I haven't had a lot of experience with fine dining and what-have-you.

First off, if you want to check this place out, do so in the next couple of weeks. They won't have their liquor license until three weeks from now, and they are serving wine (1 red, 1 white) and beer (bud light and shiner) for free. FOR FREE I TELL YOU.

The Salad bar is really fun and I'm glad I tasted all of it, like the hearts of palms and artichoke hearts and roasted peppers, but seriously, just wait.

I was functionally unable to communicate with my girlfriend, I was freaking out so bad. I just couldn't understand how a place could exist where people come around to your table and cut off pieces of meat for you. And there were like 12 different kinds of meat. It was like there were brazilian people in button down shirts constantly standing at my table asking me if I wanted this hundred dollar bill, or this other one that was also equally delicious as far as paper money goes.

The best meats were the picanha and the filet mignon. I don't know what picanha is, (it says "rump steak") but it was freaking fantastic and cooked to perfection. The filet was, well, filet and that's always good enough for me.

Overall, one of the most fantastic dining experiences of my life. I don't care if it's not as good as Fogo de Chao, it was like my dream restaurant.

One thing to remember is not to bother with reservations. We made a reservation the night before, got there five minutes early and waited for another thirty-forty while seeing other people who arrived after us get seated. It was a little infuriating.

Expensive, yes, but basically an all-you-can-eat delicious steak buffet which doesn't sound like it should exist on our physical planet. But it does, and I will keep it in my heart forever. I may still be high from the meat.

The picanha is "rump cover" steak, which in the US usually ends up split between the top sirloin and the tenderloin.

It is much smaller than a fogo de chao, boi na braza, etc., but it it still very yummy. Once word gets around, it will be a very tough place to get into.

It is actually pretty hard to get into already. And it definitely felt too small for the amount of people that were in there, not to mention the guys running around with meat swords.

Price-wise, this place seems very cheap. Aren't most places of this type usually more expensive? Like in the $45-$50 range??

Same as everyone, we heard so much good things about this type of Brazilian BBQ and were excite to finally try one. Overall, it was a lot of fun but my hub and I probably wouldn't go back again. For one, we are not big meat eater and we do not enjoy stuff ourselves silly. I would still recommend you to give it a try.

Few things to know:
They do take reservation, but since it is newly opened, it is not very busy.

The salad bar was ok size, I expected bigger. There are about 12 different cold veg/dish and 3 different salads. No fruits but all cold dish has a hit of sourness that goes well with the meat.

Party of 5 or more gets gratuity charge, not a big deal except it was 20% for us, which I read 18% on the bar menu. Each of us paid about $44, with water and dessert. Coke is $2.25 small glass bottle type and of course no refill.

Our last few cut of meat were really salty.

There was lack of salt on the first batch and too much salt on the last few. Little inconsistence.

The dessert was good. It is not included in the $28 dinner or $17 lunch price. We picked 3 different kind and all were tasty and good. I think the average price was $7 each.

Overall, give it a try.

I’ve been twice and liked it both times. When we went for lunch it was ~1/2 full… when we went for dinner on a Saturday it was packed. We had a reservation and were seated within 10 minutes if the reservation time… just long enough to enjoy a complimentary beverage.

I give this place a four out of ten. Meat was tough, not seasoned well, and overall lacking flavor. Salad bar was weak. We went on a Friday night and it was very crowded and it felt like they had about 10 tables too many in there with zero room to walk around and people always bumping your chair. Lack of a liquor license was a non-event as there were no "complimentary" beverages for us.

If you include price in the equation - $29.98 for an evening meal, the rating drops to two of ten. For the amount of cash I dropped, I could have easily taken the wife to Sullivan's and had a properly prepared steak and killer salad. Wine would have cost more, but it is only $15 or so more than I pay at Specs.

Rumor is that Fogo de Chao is moving in downtown. If that is true, Estancia will be around for about as long as its predecessor.

Overall: don't waste your money. Visit one of the fine steak houses in town.

I went with the family yesterday, it was a very good experience.

I give it a 7 out of 10.

Meat was fine, service very good.

We did get free wine/beer, you just order it, but it is not on the bill.

It was a nice time and we will go back.

I recommend very much.

Went there this weekend. I was not impressed, the salad bar was mediocre, the meat was good but not very flavorful, the service was poor (we waited forever to get a gaucho to bring meat and when they did it was always the same cuts, I never saw the tenderloin all night) and the price ($33) was outrageous.

I truly expected more and maybe that was my mistake but for basically the same price as Fogo de Chao there is no comparison, FDC wins hands down.

Only seven dollars? I was under the impression that Estancia was like half the price.

So the question is do you support the big chain, or the slightly cheaper, lesser, local alternative?

The chain has better quality meat and salad bar, it is just a fact.

And it is closer for me, if that matters.

I am so surprised to read that. I have been to both fogo and estancia. Honestly I liked estancia much better. The quality of the meats and the service is much better. And yes, i like to support the local business, specially when is so much better than the chain.
