ESPN has us as the #2 national seed matched up with the Ohio State regional where TCU is the 1 seed. Lots of BB to be played first. Let's keep rolling.

This is pretty worthless considering they have UC-Irvine hosting, which in another thread is being debunked. Also too, they have Miami as a 2 seed in the Gainsville Regional... arent they sitting with a top 10 RPI?

Looks like they are bringing in some extra seating to accomodate a regional and super.

“We’re fine for hosting a regional. We meet all the criteria both from a stadium and lighting standpoint. We also meet the seating requirements,” Hope said. “There used to be a seating requirement of 2,500, but that now doesn’t appear to be the case.”

With the right-field berm in addition to 900 chair back seats, Anteater Ballpark can hold approximately 3,100 fans. The ‘Eaters, however, plan to add temporary bleachers in perhaps beginning in two weekends against UC Davis, which would help them accommodate around 3,500.

“At this point we’d obviously like to host a regional and super regional, we’re going to bring in additional seating sooner rather than later,” Hope said. “3,500 is the number we’d shoot for if we just packed everyone in as much as possible.”

How would you know unless you've seen all of the other top teams play.

I guess that's a fair question, but I've seen us play enough to come to that comclusion. Good pitching and spotty hitting don't deserve a #2 seed. Not to mention that we are 0 for 6 against teams from Kansas. That doesn't sound like a #2 national seed to me.

And BTW the record is 0-5-1

Yes, I know the record. I was at those games. I hope the Horns win it all, and our pitching is great, but the offensive shortcomings are great also. For example our national rank in offensive categories is listed below:

Runs Scored #213
Batting Average #173
Hits #190
Home Runs #229
Slugging % #222

I just don't think we have the offensive horses to merit being a #2 national seed.

I'm just glad the committee is more likely to look at the RPI (where we are currently number 3) than offensive statistics.
