ESPN Power Rankings

I disagree with the list.
Their criteria: "Remember, the Power Rankings are about how you look and who you play each week. Forget the body of work or the brand name. These rankings drip with recency bias."
Yet, they have an ou team who was taken to OT by an Army squad who basically dominated them and could have won that game in Norman ranked #9, and a Texas team that crushed a top 20 ranked TCU listed at 17.
I guess now that CBS is shilling for the "Best Teams" in the "Best Conference", ESPN has turned their manlove to ou.
:hookem:

I watched a great deal of tech - okie lite game... tech looked pretty good and osu not so good. I think we will have a better idea how good / bad these two teams are after they play someone else good. Especially tech vs. WVA this weekend @ Lubbotocks.

And if they lite up TCU at Amon Carter I'll start to be really concerned, but they haven't played a real defense yet.

Same story every year...Oklahoma, OSU and Tech (and a whole host of other P5 teams) light up scoreboards to start the season, media and fans overreact...then the teams come down to earth.
I will say the OSU/Tech result was eye-catching.
But ^^this^^ still stands until proven otherwise.

Tech defense 2017 (points allowed):
10, 45, 24, 41 (OSU), 19, 46, 31, 49, 42, 24, 27, 23, 38
2018:
47, 0 (Lamar) 49, 17
I could be wrong, but I'll bet Tech proves to be same Tech, and that this will be a down year for OSU...they didn't look good.

My son goes to Tech but calls himself a closeted Longhorn fan. After Sat night he said, "I am still not sold on Tech's defense or UT's offense." I think that's about where I am too.

Updated Coaches top 25 has Texas at 14 and Goonies at 11. Ok......

ESPN has Texas at 9 and Goonies at 11.

I'm good with WVU coming in at 6 I hope they go higher, I'm more confident in beating them they I was at beating Oklahoma. I'm pretty sure we are going to drop more than 50 on them and hold them under 20. Will Greer is no Kyler Murray and his receivers aren't nearly as athletic as athletic.

Only if an Orlando defense shows up. If the Strong defense that has been displayed the last two games shows up Texas may score 50, but WVa will score 60.

You do realize that sometimes you have to face facts that the other team is talented and no matter how much you scheme and prepare, they are going to score points. The Oklahoma offense is every bit as good as advertised. Yes, Texas had some breakdowns but this was a hell of an effort to keep them from only scoring 45. Kyler can kill you with his arm or his legs and he has a ton of great talent around him that can also get the job done.

The best part of this game is Kyler now has reason to doubt himself and the next time he plays Texas (if there is a next time) he will be hesitant not wanting to turn the ball over. Texas will be confident they can beat these guys, but also know they have to bring their A game because of how close this game was.

I do realize that, but I also realize a not to fail defense when I see one. Loss of containment and bad angles by the entire defensive backfield on Murry's 60 yard TD; a DB not paying attention at the snap of the ball in the Brown TD; 99 rushing yards by a RB in the first half; and KSU receivers running free and clear the entire game. All hallmarks of a Strong defense.

After watching how quick and how fast Murray was and how fast the dirt burglars were overall at receiver, I think the rest of the offenses we play will look like they are moving in slow motion.

To me Murray presents a unique challenge, perhaps the best run/pass threat in the country. I don’t believe that any other team we face including WV or Tech will pose the same challenges. In other words, I believe that we can handle them. And I would welcome another shot at Murray in December.

Look, I'll say it.

Except for size, Kyler Murray has every tool VY had. Kyler also lacks a team with a solid defense, but that's hardly his fault. He is a dangerous, dangerous player. I do not want to face him again. I hope WVU takes advantage of the Sooner defense and pins another loss on them to keep them out of the title equation entirely.
