ESPN Bracketology predicts classic 1 vs 16 matchup

Make this happen, NCAA Selection Committee. BTHO w.u.!

i thought marquette would be seeded a little higher, they have a pretty good team this year. but then again, so do we...

I don't really understand all the vitriol towards Wofford. What happened?

We should forefeit a game or two just to avoid the disaster which could loom in the first round. We would then drop to a #2 seed and not have to risk falling ignomiously to our hated rivals from the east.

I could've sworn the Wofford vitriol came from way before 2004... like maybe 1999-00 or so. I think we beat them in basketball or baseball or a minor sport when everyone started making fun of them.

Wow i would love to have that bracket for Texas. It would be as close to a cakewalk as it gets for a road to a final four.
the only team that i would worry about in the bracket is UK.

You youngsters who weren't in school at UT at the time can't understand the depths of hatred us older folks feel for them. Sure, other rivalries, like with aggy and blowU, have flared up from time to time, but this one is different.

Granted, I wasn't actually IN school in 1999, having graduated five years earlier, and I hadn't actually heard of Wofford prior to that basketball game. But for a couple minutes there my loathing for them knew no bounds, arrogant w-sip *******.

We can never beat those uppity ******** often enough or by a wide enough margin, IMHO. BTHO WU!!

It seems the GBMC (Gold & Black Media Conspiracy) is in full swing, as evidenced by this lengthy ESPN feature on wu's (teehee) Noah Dahlman: The Link.

One would have thought our new network deal with ESPN would prevent such an article, but the Terriers' mangy paws clearly reach farther than we ever imagined.

What's the Longhorn history with Bowling Green?

I don't understand having 2 number 12s playing a game to play the number 5. I thought it would be 2 number 16s with the winner playing the number 1.

They assume that the lowest at-large teams taken will be 12's. I think it makes more sense this way, because it would be mean to force out 5 of the minor conference champs without giving them an opportunity to play a one seed.

Oh and the bracket as it is right now (10:00 a.m. on Saturday) would be absolutely perfect for Texas:

1. Notre Dame overrated.
2. Purdue is a one-man team that we would match up with well.
3. We've already seen NC on the road and improved since then.
4. St. John's already blew their load at MSG.
5. 'Cuse is very beatable as Villanova showed in the Carrier Dome.
6. Wichita State would be a good spoiler in that bracket but not enough to beat us, as our game against Mizzou showed.
7. Rematch against Pitt in the Final Four, but this time it would be more of a home game.

I don't find the bracket easy at all. I feel 2-5 could all be final 4 qualifiers. ND has played outstanding except maybe 3 stinkers (like our USC), Syracuse is coming out of their slump (and they are Syracuse). BigEast teams in the 2 and 4 spot looks like a trap. Purdue is still a popular final4 pick and NC (like us) seems to be improving dramatically from early season. I'd say Pitt and Kansas have the easier brackets...
