It would have been nice to see him stay with a team - I think one of the reasons he's underappreciated is that he did end up playing for so many teams. I still hate the fact that he was at UT at a time when the program was at an all-time low. He was really spectacular to watch.
i think he single handedly started the tights under the uniform craze. I played ball in 89-92 we saw him wear those and stormed to the stores to get some the very next day. red, not burnt orange.
As for what he is doing these days...I'm not sure about currently, but as of two years ago, he was the offensive coordinator for Rainier Beach High School in Washington state.
Great track and field athlete. Conference long jump champion/placed in NCAA track meet. You saw him in a track suit, there was no mistaking he was a football player. Tightly wound.
It was weird watching those washed out highlights of the Astrodome, Arkansas, and the old Memorial Stadium turf. If the camera had panned the stands you'd see about 60,000 people wearing white button downs.
Thank goodness for "Come Early, Be Loud, Stay Late, Wear Orange."
Coolest T-shirt I have had was a "Metcalf Republic" t-shirt. It was a play on those old Banana Republic T-shirts from the late 1980's. My parents bought it for me after a game at the old Bevo's Bookstore on the drag. It had a picture of Metcalf running past the UT tower. I had it in junior high and still remember some ou fan classmate of mine if he knew where I could get a Bozworth Republic T-shirt...
He was 10 times better than what everyone thinks Reggie Bush was gonna be!!
There was a play I think against the Bengals (I think) where he juked and hoped one way and then back the other and made two guy miss and scored. Greatest move ever!!! couldn't find a video.
Wow. The Cardinals photo brings back memories of his dad. Even though I was a Cowboys fan, Terry Metcalf was one of my favorite pro players when I was a kid.
