Eric Johnson - Please stop....

There I said it. Anyone else share this opinion? Dude is one of the most amazing guitarists I've ever seen. I really think he would be more successful if he'd give the hopelessly thin voice a rest.

I know this is borderline sacrilege but somebody has to say it.

I love 40 mile town and When the Sun Meets the Sky. Now, there are bands like Modest Mouse and Franz Ferdinand that I'd like a lot more if they had decent vocalists. I cannot stand a lot of this indie rock stuff simply because of the vocals. It's funny too because this is coming from a guy who likes the vocals of bands like Death and Children of Bodom. I guess I'm a hypocrite.

His voice fits his music. I don't know if I'd want to hear anyone else singing Friends, WTSMTS, Venus Isle, Battle We Have Won, 40 Mile Town, Your Sweet Eyes.........
Now, I would love to hear him do a blues rock record like Alien Love Child with Malford Milligan doing the vocals.
He's playing a benefit show for Van Wilks next Sunday at Antones. Kyle Brock will be playing bass for him.
A number of other Austin musicians are performing as well.
I plan on making the trip over from BTR.

He had prostate cancer that seems to have been cured by surgery. The benefit is to help him pay his bills.
