ER, Renewed for Final Season, to Bring Back Old Characters

ER to Court Former Stars for Final Season

Used to love the show. Obviously it is no longer what it used to be. Glad to see it is no longer going to be dragged out because NBC has nothing else for Thursday nights. Anyway, looks like they are going to bring back some older/original characters. Wonder how hard it is going to be to make Clooney return.

ER was great when it was case-driven-- more about the individual cases that came into the ER and less about the personal lives of the doctors and nurses.

Then then went and ruined it by turning it into a nighttime soap.

I've actually enjoyed the show the most since the Dr. Green years over the last 3 seasons. The cast is actually pretty good now. I think the show has simply been on too long and because of that, many dismissed it years ago.

Maybe Goose will come back in a special zombie episode.

ER was only great the first few seasons.

I am thinking they go after the original core cast...Benton, Carter, Lewis, Jerry, Hathaway, Chen, Ross, Morgenstern and others. Would watch to see Carter and Benton working together again as well as Ross and Hathaway.

Romano, Corday are mid series characters and not that interesting.

Perhaps they could kill off just about all of the current crew in a mass explosion or something and then the old crew gets called back to action.

I suppose it's all relative. The last few seasons have not been nearly as good, or as creative, as the ealier years (with a few exceptions -- the episode with Ray Liotta, the arc with Forrest Whitaker, etc.). However, compared to most of the crap that is on these days, I'll take it any day.

I thought Anthony Edwards was really dead, until I saw him in Zodiac with Bruce Willis hair. Or was it Billy Bob Thornton hair?

I rarely watch ER these days and when I do it is usually the reruns.

I happened to be watching one on TNT this morning that had Ray Liotta (for which he won an Emmy) as an ex-con with terminal liver & kidney disease. What a performance. Gut wrenching.

Clooney might come back for AN episode, but that's probably it.

Looks like it will wrap up in February.
