Entitlement

Good read. I wish more people would consider others before themselves when driving. But then again, I guess I'm not entitled to have a stress free and safe drive home or to work. Not that I consider others all the time, just saying it would make a big difference I think.

reminds me of a recent 60 minutes piece about denmark. they discussed out Denmark always comes out on top of most content/happiest nation and attempted to explain why.

the main thing they pointed to was the fact that danes tend to not have high expectations and even when they do, they don't let it get them down if they don't meet their expectations. at a very basic level, the higher you set your sights, the more likely you are to fail to meet your expectations. when you don't meet your expectations, you're unhappy.

more than anything, it just seems like perspective is what's necessary.

^^^^^^ Agreed

This is pop journalism at its worst. Someone with a deadline but without critical thinking skills has a provocative thesis and backs it with nothing but vague anecdotes.

Do you see any correlation to this commentary ?

People today have an inflated sense of entitlement. We feed that desire by purchasing outside of our true buying power. Keep in mind we already have more buying power than most countries... but we even manage to surpass that. There is a reason the average American is walking around with debt. We're not just talking about IPods, but expensive cars and homes.

I thought the article was very accurate. This is no doubt the "Me/I" generation. Everybody wants their 15 minutes, their perfect spouse, perfect job and everybody owes them every bit of respect but they don't owe anybody else a dime of it.

Maybe it's because I live in Dallas but this kind of stuff is EVERYWHERE. You can't escape this "me" stuff.

I'm not saying that because somebody looks for a better job or happiness that their a "me" person. But I think there is more than enough evidence out there to prove this guys point.

ask any college recruiter about the attitude of students graduating today and they are sickened by some of the demands made. i do not know if kids today are not being raised right or what..
