apologize if that has been covered. At the end of regulation, why did the play start with 7 seconds left? By the time the shooter received the ball he didn't even have enough time to "square up" to get a decent look at the basket.
Because that is our end of clock play...let the play clock go so far down that even if you can create a decent shot, there's no chance for a put back if it misses. Can be maddening.
Since there were 36.2 seconds left, they wanted to shoot as close to the end of the shot clock as possible in order to either win the game or go to overtime.
The other nine times out of 10 that they pound the ball and let the clock run drive me nuts.
At least it was better than the way we ended the half. I've gotten where my hope is the other team doesn't score after we botch whatever last shot attempt we have cooked up.
Wish we at least had a play to run in that situation. It appears that the play is to have the PG hold it and then shoot as the clock expires. Seems they should be creative enough to run some screens to get an open look - while still accomplishing the goal of running the clock down.
I'm a little surprised that we don't occasionally feed Damion the ball in the post those kind of last-minute set plays.
He's been nailing that short jumper over most anyone who guards him, and he could easily go back outside for a spot-up or feed the other post against a double-team.
Damion's improved passing from the high to the low post this season seems to be somewhat underappreciated.
I thought it was pretty obvious that we wanted to make sure we had the last shot. And we did run a play D.J drove and passed to A.J who was coming off a pick.
