Emmitt Smith's final thoughts on the season

That's Right

They asked him what his final thoughts on the season were and he said, "Hats off to Aaron Ross, rookie out of The University of Texas (sic) for getting to the playoffs and winning a ring in his first year."

Yeah, I liked that. Class comments from a class guy.

And by the way... It's 4:24 am and I'm still up.

Next to the Longhorns winning the Rose Bowl over the Trojans, this is the most satisfying sports victory I can recall in my life.

Here's what this makes up for... best I can feel tonight.

- Cowboys loss to the Packers in the Ice Bowl
- Cowboys loss to the Packers in the Cotton Bowl the following year
- Cougars loss to NC-State in the NCAA Finals
- Longhorns loss to TCU in 1961, to fall from #1 ranking and the undefeated
- Longhorns loss to Notre Dame to end the 30-game streak

Since time heals all wounds, and you must live in the present moment, I'll take this win tonight. All scores settled. All debts paid. All Karma resolved.

Sorry, but I'm still pissed we lost to aggy the last two years.

Only one thing will wipe away that memory, and it ain't a Giants victory or a Pats loss.

I'm still pissed we lost to ND in 96. Giants win doesn't do anything for me except keep Brady from surpassing Aikman in ring totals. I still can't stand the Giants even though I wanted them to win.

Emmitt has come a long way as a broadcaster. He has always been a football "expert," but he has figured out how to deliver his points of view much more succintly.

Emmitt still struggles with the concept of noun-verb agreement, e.g.:
"Eli Manning is a QB who know
who he is."

Not that this is important, but Emmitt and Desmond Howard must be rubbing off on each other as he used the phrase "The University of Texas" to congratulate Ross.

P.S. GREAT Superbowl and hats off to Ross to start at CB on arguably the best defense in the NFL.

i know the first two arent on that espn set, but they both suck as bad as emmitt. keyshawn was the highlight of those broadcasts during the super bowl week. i would cringe when they would go to emmitt. he's just not very good. he's like the guy they are talking about in the bud light radio commercials.... the former professional athlete turned analyst guy with insight like, "if you score more points, you will win."

Non-UT fan here. It has to said:

Wes Welker somewhat owned Aaron Ross in that game. If NE had won, it would have been one of the main storylines.

OK, you can ban or suspend me now.
