That is not what you saw. Well, maybe it was. That’s not what happened though. It was more than two plays. It was 5 so there.
It is the damndest thing that Brockermeyer gets blamed for what appear to be others screw ups. I’m sure you won’t watch it again. If you do, note that Brockermeyer is shaded inside shoulder of the RT. The run is probably in the B gap to the opposite side but hard to tell since the hole was about 3 gaps wide. But it’s his fault cause “he got close but didn’t close the deal” while the playside LBer did not get blocked, didn’t find the ball. Not only that the playside LBer found himself in the same hole with another dude and they widened the gap to make matters worse. Interpret that how you will. So in summary, it’s Brockermeyers fault because he was a half step late after possibly ensuring the ball is going right (mind you his side doesn’t have an unaccounted for defender), engaging an Olineman (probably his mistake here), getting across 3 gaps while Richardson (his side has an unaccounted for defender) is one gap over and unblocked. Tapp and Bryant get whipped. LTG never sees the ball even though he’s unblocked and it comes right at him. It is certainly possible that Luke was the major culprit from what the play call dictated, but there’s no TD if the 4 guys on the playside do anything worth a damn.
I’ve seen 4 different forums not hesitate to blame one dude as quickly as possible and ignore what really happened.
And I just wonder why you don’t recall Ford missing 3 tackles. Two he was not blocked and that wasn’t because he’s so special at evading blocks. That’s the beauty and greatness of team football. Pick your teammates up when they miss.
