Email and iPhones

Two questions with gmail and iPhones:

1). When I go to the "sent mail" folder, it shows me only the emails sent from the phone. I want to see all the sent mail, including message I sent from home, etc.

2). I have two gmail accounts. They used to both function perfectly, from my phone. Suddenly, when I send messages from one of the accounts, it is giving the other gmail account as the return adddress. So when the recipient replies to me, it shows up in the other gmail account.

Probably both easy fixes, but I don't see the remedies when scrolling through account settings.

I'm afraid this is a milestone on the unstoppable march to becoming my father (microwave clock flashing "12:00").

Is your Gmail setup to sync using POP3 or IMAP? The behavior you describe for your folders is what happens using POP3. You should change it to IMAP if you want your email truly synced between all your devices.

I don't have an iPhone so I can't help you with question #2.

FYI- Droid phones are way more gmail friendly as the OS is made by google- not apple.

Don't want to start an Apple/Andoird debate- but you really can get the same and better phones on Droid, and your gmail everything syncs with everything else. I purchased a droid in part because I use gmail.

There is a setting on the iPhone mail section under Advanced to specify which folders to use for Drafts, Sent and Deleted. Select the ones labeled On The Server and not on the phone. Those are your server-based IMAP folders. Set it up this way on all your devices and mail will sync among them.

I use two different gmails with my iphone and have had no problems.

You definitely need to setup gmail to do imap, that helps a lot of the sync issues.

As for the reply-to issue, you can always select which account to send from by touching on the "From" field. I think by default it will use the first email listed, but you can change that by changing the "default account" setting in your mail settings.
