Elmer Kelton passed away today, I read most of his book growing up. The Link

The Time it Never Rained is a masterpiece. There's no-one in Texas literature better.

Kelton's The Good-Ol-Boys is better than The Time it Never Rained, IMO, but they are both great books. I never see it anymore but Tommy Lee Jones directed and starred as Dewey Calloway in a great TNT movie based on the Good-Ol-Boys.

I like all his pulp novels too.
