Ellis Salazar = ripoff

I barely hit a car in a parking lot this week. It was parked and I was trying to pull into a tight spot. I was going <1mph and touched the car on the turn and a corner of my bumper hit their fender above the rear passenger side tire.

Once we cleaned it, it had a small scratch and no dent. Like I said, I was really going <1 mph.

I was considering paying out of pocket instead of insurance but she took it to Ellis & Salazar and they told her he would be $1100 worth of damages. I took a picture with my camera phone and see if I can upload it here.

What a joke. $1100??? They said there is a dent (I saw none) and the damage was "serious". ?????

Screw Ellis & Salazar.

As soon as she told them that your insurance was going to pay for it or that you would pay it out of pocket, that estimate went thru the roof. You need to go ahead and let your insurance company check it out for you.

It gets better. My car was supposed to be ready today. I called them up this afternoon and as it turns out while they were washing my truck, they hit the bumper and rescratched it. And now it won't be ready until tomorrow. Not too happy.

That's just the cost of body work. A few years ago I was involved in a minor bumper bump on 183/Burnet in a 1988 Corolla. There were some black smudges on my bumper, a cracked headlight (which was cracked before the accident), and a crease in the metal above the bumper. Their insurance adjuster wrote me a check for $1300, no body shop was involved at all.

I replaced the headlight for $60 and wiped the smudges off.

milkman dan, i've never been in an accident (that was my fault) and the 1st one on my record was a POS in a parking lot going 1mph?

it pisses me off.

otherwise, i agree.

is that the company that pronounces their name "sa-LAY-ser" ? something wrong w/a Mexican who tries to make his name sound white.. disclaimer: (I am Mexican)

I too would never go to them for that reason. Their commercials irk me and I guess that is why.

A friend got a massive quote for something much like MMD said. We buffed the scuffs off and he replaced some trim and a tailight. Done. Saved him about 900 bucks from the estimate.
